The Young Blakely Homemak
ers would like to at this time to
ask all the merchants and people
of Blakely to enter a float in
the Fat Cattle Show Parade,
The parade will be held March
21 at 4 o'clock. It will begin at
the Depot and will end at the
football field.
We hope all the merchants and
people of Blakely will participate
in the parade., so the Cattle Show
will be a big success.

HELD PRE-SCHOOL
CLINIC MARCH 11
The Ella Jones PTA held a pre
school tlinic. Monday, March 11
for children who enter school
next September 1963, Fifty four
attended,
Beginning at 8:30 Monday
morning the clinic lasted until
1:00 p. m. Lunch was served in
the school lunch rocom for each
pre-school child, Parents were
invited to attend the first portion
of the day to assist the children
in becoming acquainted with
the teachers, other pre-school
boys and girls, and the school
surroundings.
A special session was held for
parents Monday morning with
Supervising principal, Frank
Buckner and Mrs. Ann Smith,
Early County Health Nurse,
speaking to the group.

Each year one of the main
projects of the Blakely High
Tri-Hi-Y and Hi-Y Clubs is the
sponsoring of a series of seven
“Teen Talks” just prior to the
Easter season, This year the se
ries began on March 1 with Mrs,
Robinson McLendon speaking on
“The Teenager and His Family.”
On March 8 Sgt. J. E. Johnson of
the State Highway Patrol spoke
on “The First Step”, The remain
ing talks and dates are as fol
lows:

monthly meeting March 6th atll
the Community Center, Mrs.i

ed. There were eight members
and cne visitor present. The
meeting was opened by singing
the Club song. Mrs, Curtis Reed
then gave the inspirational, |
A report was given on the 4-H
Club Banquet. Our club donat
ed a gallon of beans and a cake,
Two members helped prepare
and served the food.
Plans were made to help with
the Fat Cattle Show to be held
March 21st and 22nd. ‘
We had as our guest Mrs, Phip
lip Moore, of the Blakely Young
Homemakers Club, who gave a
very interesting demonstration
on different types of wall plaques
and planters.
Mrs. Herman Smith, hostess,
served delicious refreshments.

MEETING RECENTLY
The Cub Scouts of Den 1 met
at the home of Den Mother, Mrs,
Lowrey Stone recently,
For the activity period, the
scouts made kites to be flown at
the Kite Flying contest to be held
at Indian Mound on Saturday,
March 9 at 9:00. Prizes will be
awarded, The first prize will be
a transistor radio, second prize,
a scout knife, and third prize,
a scout mess kit,
After refreshments were serv
ed by Mrs. Joe Sheffield, the
scouts were divided into two
groups to play baseball, assisted
by Den Chief, Jimmy Hall,
