Donald Irving Gammill, son of
Mrs. Zella Gammill and the late
M. I. Gammill, of Union City,
Georgia, were united in marriage
Sunday, June 19, at 4:00 p. m,,
at the Bluffton Methodist
Church.
Mr. Douglas R. Barnes, of
Cuthbert, Georgia, performed
the double ring ceremony before
a large assemblage of friends
and relatives.
The ceremony was performed
in front of the altar which was
banked with tropical jade and
palm foliage where the center
focal point was a large sunburst
arrangement of pale pink glads
and mums, in front of a lighted
candlebrum holding burning
pink tapers. On either side burn
ed candle trees and a nine
branched candelabrum. The aitar
rail across the front of the church
was draped in white bridal satin
and white aisle cloths ran the
length of the aisles.
Mrs. Ralph Crozier, of Fort
Gaines, pianist, accompanied Mr.
Don Jackson of Fairburn, as he
sang “One Hand, One Heart”,
“I Love Thee” and “The Lord’s
Prayer”.
~ The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Her gown
- was of bridal satin covered in
~silk chiffon. The bodice and el
bow length tapered sleeves,
re-embroidered with appliques of
Alencon lace. The scalloped neck
- line featured the re-embroidered
' lace and seed pearls. The skirt
~ was centered with one pleat, the
~ edges of which formed a beauti
ful design of lace and pearls.
The A-line skirt gathered full
- ness in the back where it was
« centered with a bustle effect and
fell into a chapel train. The fin
gertip veii was caught with the
same design of pearls and lace.
The bride’s only ornament was
. a tiny string of cultured pearls.
Her bouquet was a cascade of
phalaenopsis orchids, with bridal
roses and stephanotis backed by
leaves of pearls. With her bou
quet she carried a lace handker
chief made from her grandmo
ther's wedding dress 51 years
ago. '

The bridesmaids wore formal
floor length gowns of palest pink
antique satin covered with chif
fon. They featured a scoop neck
with an empire waist and A
line skirt. A floor length train
was attached in the back. They
wore elbow length white gloves
and carried bouquets of carna
tions and roses mounted on white
lace fans. They also wore pearls.
The flower girl's dress was iden
tical to the bridemaids. She car
ried a baskket of pink sweet
heart roses.
The groom's best man was
Phillip Dunaway, Jr ~of Fair
burn. Usher-groomsmen were
Messrs, Del Gammill and William
Shaw of Fairburn, and Charles
Williams, of Bluffton. The ring
bearer was Keith Knowles of
Fairburn.
The bride’s mother wore a
two piece pale pink silk shan
tung and lace dress. She chose
dyed to match shoes and white
gloves and pearls. Her corsage
was a white orchid.
Reception
Immediately following the cere
mony, the bride’s parents enter
tained with a reception at the
club house adjacent to the
church. The guests were greeted
at the door and presented to the
receiving line by Mrs. B. F. Pal
mer and Mrs. E. L. Rushton.
The clubhouse also carried out
the pink and white theme. The
bride’s table was overlaid with
an imported embroidered linen
and lace cloth over pale pink
satin. The cake featured pink
accents and was topped by the
traditional wedding bells. The
cake was cut by Mrs. R. E. Gard
ner and Mrs. T. A. Cain. The
table featured pink roses in sil
ver compote candelabras with
lighted tapers on either side of
the cake. A background was form
ed by an arched screen of mag
nolia foliage. The punch table
was also overlaid with linen and
~satin and held ‘a punch bowl at
either end. A large silver epergne
holding pink carnations, and ro
ses provided the focal point of
the table. Pouring punch were
Mrs. J. T. Burnette and Mrs. R.
E. Chandler. Assisting in serving
were Misses Mary Frontier, Pam

Mrs. Del Gammill kept the
bride’s book on a small table with
a cupid compote of pink carna
tions.
Miss Gloria King played a se
lection of wedding music for the
background at the reception.
The bride chose as her going
away outfit a pale pink silk shan
tung three piece Frence travel
suit. She used black patent shoes
and bag and black straw hat. Her
corsage was a white orchid.
After a wedding trip to Nassau
the couple will live at 6563 Ray
mond Drive in Union City, Geor
gia.
Rehearsal Supper
On Saturday night, June 18, the
groom's family entertained the
bridal party with a supper fol
lowing the rehearsal. This was
held at the Womans Club house
in Blakely. The tables were over
laid in white and the decorations
were little gold cupid dolls hold
ing wedding bells and arranged
among flowers. The mantle was
banked with magnolia foliage and
two larger dolls were placed
here. About thirty-five guests at
tended.

Tea-Shower Honors
Miss Judy Evans
A tea-shower was given in hon
or of Miss Judy Evans on Thurs
day, July 14, at Southside Bap
tist Church in the fellowship
room. The color scheme was
yellow and white. The serving
tables were done in yellow and
white. Yellow punch was served
from a cut glass punch bowl.
Silver candles holders with white
lighted candles decorated each
table. The flower arrangement
was a white base of 3 cherubs
holding an array of peonies,
larkspur, green grapes and rho
dodendron. The bride’s book was
on a stand decorated in yellow
with 2 nosegay of yellow rose
buds.
The guests were met by Mrs.
Ralph' Denmon, who presented
them to the brid>elect, Miss
Judy Evans, the bride’s mother,
Mrs. Vernon Evans, and the
groom's mother, Mrs, Bill Far
riss. The bride-elect wore a two
piece sheath of yellow lace. She
was presented a corsage of yellow

Punch, tiny tea cookies, mints,
and nuts were served the guests
by Mrs. Bill Hagan and Miss
Kay Farriss.
The guests were directed to the
gilt room by Mrs. J. M. Kitch
ens and shown the beautiful ar
ray o! gifts which the bride-elect
received.
The hostesses for the tea were
Mrs. J. M, Kitchens, Mrs. Bill
Hagan, Mrs. P. E. Daubs and
Mrs. Ralph Denmon.
Evans-Fariss Wedding
Plans Are Announced
Miss Judy Dianne Evans, daugh
ter of Mr, and Mrs. Vernon Ev
ans and Mr. John Wayne Fariss,
son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wil.
liam Fariss have completed plans
for their wedding of July 24.
Vows will be exchanged at four
o'clock in the afternoon in the
Southside Baptist Church. Rev.
Andy H. Lanier. Jr., will offi
ciate and the bride will be giv
en marriage by her father.
Mrs. Don Wilson, organist and
Mrs. Mark Holt, vocalist, will
present the wedding music.
The bride has chosen Martha
Jo Perkins as her maid of honor,
Bridesmaids will be Kay Fariss,
sister of the bridegroom, Denda
Hagan, Glenda Cochran, Blakely;
Junior bridesmaids will be Jan
and Nan Houston, Albany, neices
of the bridegroom.
Mr. Don Cannon has been cho
sen to serve as best man. Usher
groomsmen will be Michael
Wayne and Charles Evans, bro
thers of the bride, Robert Hous
ton, Albany, brother-in-law of the
bridegroor.:, Billy English, Arling

brother-in-law of the bridegroom.
Miss Mary Beth Blackwell, cou
sin of the bride, Baton Rouge,
La., and Miss Torey Durden,
of Blakely, will be flower girls.
Master David Henley, Baton
Rouge, La., cousin of the bride,
will be the ring bearer. Miss
Susan Smith, St. Mary’s, Ga., will
be stand-in for the bride.
Mrs. Henry J. Malsberger will
direct the wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Billy Joe Jordan
and children, Pam, Joe and Cill,
returned the past week-end from
a week’s vacation in Panama
City, Fla.
Linton Thompson, son of Mr.
and Mrs, Fletcher Thompson, is
employed by Mosser Steel Co.,
in Houston, Texas this summer
and will return the first of Au
gust for the Dußose-Thompson
wedding. While in Houston he
has been residing at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Thomp
son. Mr. Thompson is a former,
Early County resident.

Two Midget League Braves,
Kenneth Johnson and Dave Cleve
land, and a Midget League In
dian, Garp Huggins, attended the
Braves-RedLegs baseball game
in Atlanta, with Kenneth's fa
ther, Huey Johnson, during the
week end. The boys returned
with baseball bats given them
by the Braves, and are also sport
ing Braves caps and sweatshirts,
Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Hobbs of
New Orleans, La., Frank Bridges
and daughter, Kathy, of Talla
hassee, Fla., were guests of Mr.
Bridges' mother, Mrs. Oscar
Bridges, during the week end.
Dr. Hobbs is Minister of Music
at St. Charles Church and a
teacher at the New Orleans Bap
tist Seminary. Mrs, Bridge had
visited the family in Tallahassee
and returned to Blakely with
them,
Mrs. R. Hugh Reid of Vidalia,
Ga., State Ist vice regent, Geor
gia Society, NSDAR, is visiting
Mrs. H. M. Richardson, State
Regent, coming to attend the
dedication ceremony at Kolomo
ki Mounds.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cannon and
boys, Dewey, James and Billy,
attended the Atlanta-Cincinnati
baseball game in Atlanta, Sun
day, and visited Mr. Cannon's
sister and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Dick Williams.

ties in Early County, weighing
from a pound to a pound and a
half each, and lat week as two
of the tomatoes reached matur
ity, they shared some of the de
licious tasty species with Editor
W. H. Fleming and Mrs. Flem

and children, Rod and Jan, of
Bellbuckle, Tenn., were guests of
Mrs, Gardner’s mother, Mrs. J.
G. Sheffield, the past week.
Friends will be interested to
learn Dr. William Ferrell Harper
recently completed his internship
at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Mo,
Dr. Harper and his family have
moved to Chattanooga, Tenn.,
where he is filling a residency
in surgery at Baroness Erlanger
Hospital,

Robert L. Steele, a student at
ABAC, Tifton, received word
from the Ty Cobb Educational
Foundation that he has been
awarded an academic scholar
ship for the year 1966-67. He will
enter the University of Georgia
this fall. Bob is the son of the
late Evelyn Young Steele and he
makes his home with his undle

a reunion at the Jakin lunchroom

the afternoon sing was furnished
by Ernest Daniels and Miss San
dra Moulton, both of Tallahassee,
Fla. Mr. Daniels was a former
student at the Springfield School
in the Springfield community in
Early County. He brought his
Hammond organ along. Piano
music was furnished by Miss
Moulton,

Jones Reunion
The R. K. Jones family of Phe
nix City, Ala., held a family re
union at Camp Hicita, Kolomoki
State Park, July 14, 15 and 16.
The Rev. R. K. Jones is a re
tired Methodist minister of the
Alabama-West Florida Confer
ence and has served in this ca
pactiy for approximately forty
years.
He has five ordained sons and
one ordained ministers as a son
in-law. His children attending
the reunion were: Haniel Jones,
Auburn, Ala,; the Rev. David
Jones, Pritchard, Ala.; Mrs.
Frank Hyles, Grand Bay, Ala.;
the Rev. Joel Jones, Dothan,
Ala.; Mrs. Blanton Cosby, Colum
bus, Ga.; Mrs. Willard Jones,
Perkinston, Miss.; Mrs. Mark
Holt, Blakely; Mrs. Charles Tass,
Mrs. J. C, Perdue, Mrs. Malcolm
Sims, and Mrs. Clarence Johns

the Univeruity of Georgia, and
son of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher
Thompson, is employed by Stauf
fer Chemical Co., station in the
Blakely area through the sum
mer, and upon the completion of
his work with this company will
be employed by Thompson Motor
Companx.
MYF Picnic
The Junior MYF of the First
Methodist Church, held a picnic,
followed by a hayride, at Kolo
moki State Park on Saturday,
July 26. The group met at the
church and everyone took a pic
nic lunch.

companied the girls and boys,
Mr. Smith drove the truck, which
was furnished by Paschal Jenkins.
