RETURN FROM TRIP
TO JAMAICA
Mrs. Curtis Loyless has re
turned from a ten day trip to
Jamaica, West Indies; she and
her sisters, Mrs. O.M. Monroe
and Mrs. Sue Cleveland, both
of Atlanta, left Saturday, Sep
tember 16, going by jet from
Atlanta, they visited their niece
and her family, Mr. and Mrs.
R. E. Mantel at Montego Bay,
Jamacia.
While there they made a trip
by plane to the Rio Grande River
where they spent a day rafting.
They took a train trip into the
mountains, with about 25 other
tourist, seeing coffee and pine
apple plantations , though there
were even more banama and
coconut orchards in the lowlands.
They visited the Appleton Estates
where the famous Jamaica Rum
is distilled, and also sugar re
fineries.
One of the highlights of the
trip was their visit to Sunset
Valley where native Jamaicians
entertained with their native
dances and songs.
TWO FEATURED
SENIORS AT ECHS
The two featured Seniors this
week at Early County High School
are Gerald Brooks and Susan
Askew.
Gerald is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Brooks of Blakely.
He was a member of the Hi-Y
Club hi s Junior year and was
elected a Boy’s State alternate.
This year he is in the Vica pro
gram.
Susan Askew is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. David Askew of
Arlington. She has been a mem
ber and officer of FHA for four
years. She received her State
Degree and Crisco Award her
Junior year. She has been a
homecoming attendant for three
years and has been in the Beta
Club four 'years. Susan attend
ed Girl’s State at the University
of Georgia this past summer.
She was class president her
freshman year. Susan is writ
ing the Senior Horoscope for
the annual. She was state win
ner of Mobile Home Research
Contest and placed third in state
Literary Meet last year.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben De Vaughn,
of Montezuma, announce the birth
of a daughter, Claudia Elizabeth
October 1. She is the great
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.
B. Jones.
CARDS OF THANKS
1 would like to say "Thank
You” to my friends and relatives
who were so thoughtful of me
while 1 was in the hospital and
since my return home. Your
prayers, cards, flowers, gifts and
visits meant so much.

a native of Clay County. He
graduated from Clay County High.
School and South Georgia Junior;
Col Ige. He received aB. S.'
degree from Troy State College,
Troy , Alabama, and attended
Emory University this past sum
mer.
For four years at Unadilla High
School he taught math and caoched
boy’s and girl’strack and basket
ball.
At Early County High he
teaches math and coaches the

Blakely, Georgia announced the
engagement of her daughter, Pa
tricia Ann, to John Gregory Fe
kays, son of Mrs. Martha Miller
of Blakely and the late Mr. John
George Fekays of Baltimore,
Maryland.
Miss Williams is the daugh
ter of the late Alton F. Williams.
She i s the granddaughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Wil
liams of Blakely, Georgia and
Mrs. Cleve Ellis and the late
Cleve Ellis of Blakely, Georgia.
The bride-elect is a graduate
of Damascus High School and
Piedmont Hospital School of
Nursing, Atlanta, Georgia. She
is presently employed as a Staff
Nurse at Early Memorial Hos
pital.

grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. O.
Hand of Ashford, Alabama and
"B” team in football and girls
basketball.
Coach Dunahoo is married to
the former Joan King of Clay
County. They have three girls—
Debbie who is 7 years old and in
the third grade, Vickie, 5, and
Sherrie 1.
Mr. and Mrs. John Fekays of
Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Fekays is presently em
ployed at Early Memorial Hos
pital as the Maintenance En
gineer.
The wedding will be at four
o’clock P.M., Saturday, October
21, 1967, at White Pond Free Will
Baptist Church, Blakely, Geor
gia- A reception will be held
after the ceremony in the church
dining hall.
No formal invitations are being
sent. All relatives and friends of
the couple are invited to attend.

District Deputies of District
36, Order of the Eastern Star
for the State of Georgia, Billy
Joe Jordan of Blakely, and Mrs.
Francess Gundiff of Albany were
honored at the Blakely Chapter,
O. E. S here Thursday night.
Both District Deputies spoke
to the Eastern Star members and
were presented gifts. Mrs.
Gladys Jones, Worthy Matron,
presided. The Blakely Chapter
received two affiliates, Mr. and
Mrs. George Courtney, who rec
ently moved to Blakely from
Alden, N. Y.
Following the regular meeting
refreshments were served by
Mrs. W.H. Fleming and Mrs.
Reese Camp.
GRAND BAHAMA IS.
TRIP COMPLETED
Mr. and Mrs. Reese Camp
have returned from a combined
business and pleasure trip to the
Grand Bahama Islands, where
they stayed a month enjoying the
many things the island had to
offer. Mr. and Mrs. W. S.
Lindsey and daughter, Carol,
joined them the first week in
September.
While there they took sight
seeing tours in an authenic Lon
don double-decker bus, shopping
at the International Shopping
Bazaar; playing golf on the
beautiful eighteen hole champion
ship courses at Lucayan Country
Club and King’s Inn Golf Club;
also they enjoyed the beaches
and the clear blue water of the
islands.
Mr. and Mrs. Camp stopped
in Miami, Florida on their re
turn trip where they visited Mr.
Camp’s brother, and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Raymond Camp. A fam
ily re-union was held at the Ray
mond Camp's home during their
visit.

Fall and Christmas demonstration, admire the design. The
local Garden Club sponsors a Christmas lecture annually, which
is usually attended by hundreds of Garden Club members from
a radius of fifty miles.
The Blakely Garden Club will
sponsor a Fall and Christmas
demonstration at the American
Legion Hall, Thursday, October
12 at 2 p.m.
David Bush, local florist, artist
and designer will present the
lecture—demonstration. He has
given a Christmas Design Show
in Dothan, Ala., for the past two
years and is scheduled to give
a one-man show of painting in
Panama City, Fla., in November
and at the Manor House Gallery
in Atlanta in the Spring.
He has been in business in Bla
kely approximately four years,
and assisted with Art Shows
