is taking special training in the
meat department and working
temporarily in Valdosta at the

Mrs. Edith M. Richardson,
Mrs. Glenn M. Gleason, and their
brother, Leland S. Morse arrived
in Blakely last Thursday to spend
several days at their home on
College street.
Master Sgt. and Mrs. Lewis
Hayes and sons, Ricki and Terry,
spent two weeks recently in
Blakely with Mr. Hayes’ sister,
Mrs. Wyatt Jarrett and family
and brother, Byron Hayes. Lewis
and family were enroute to Lon
don, England, leaving the States
on Sept. 18, where Mr. Hayes
will be stationed in the service
of our country.

16. Their children, Miss Laura

J. L. Meadows of Moultrie, visit
ed them last week.

returned recently after several
weeks visit with friends and rela
tives in Dallas, Texas and other
points of interest.

Miss Susan Houston of Kansas
City, Mo., who is an instructor
in TWA School for Hostesses,
visited her parents in Blakely,
Mr. and Mrs. J. Emory Houston,
following a tour of southern
Europe when she visited Rome,
Italy and Madrid, Spain.
Dr. and Mrs. A. P. Deßosa
and family of Atlanta were guests
in the home of Mrs. Deßosa’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grady
Holman, Sr. last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Luther Warrick
and daughter, Alice, visited Mrs.
Warrick’s sister and her family,
Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Dupree in
Tallahassee, Fla., thepastweek
end, going on to St. Marks, Fla.,

Mrs. John Oscar Bridges
Miss Diane Dean Koopmann,
daughter of Mrs. Mark Edgar
Koopmann and the late Mr. Koop
mann of Doerun, Georgia became
the bride of John Oscar Bridges,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank B.
Bridges of Blakely, Georgia and
Tallahassee, Florida ata candle
light ceremony Saturday evening,
August 31 at the Doerun Metho
dist Church, Doerun, Georgia.
[Jr. J. Leßoy Hendrix of Hahira,
Georgia officiated, assisted by
the Rev. C, Heywood Hiers of
Doerun.
Palms and ferns formed the
background for white arches and
candletrees decorated with gar
lands and green leaves in the
santuary. A large center ar
rangement of gladioli and chry
santhemums formed the focal
point at the altar.
Miss Mary Pearson of Homer,
Louisana, organist, and Mrs.
Tony McDowell of Tallahassee,
sister of the groom, vocalist,
presented the wedding music.
Mrs. McDowell sang, "One Hand,
One Heart" from West Side Story
and "Before Thine Altar".
Frank B. Bridges, father of
the groom, served his son as
best man. Groomsmen were
Wayne Hobbs, Metaire. La., and
Tony McDowell, Tallahassee,
Fla., brothers-in-law of the
groom, Jimmy Ginn and Strick
Holloway, Jr., both of Statesboro,
Ga.
Mrs. Kaye Proctor of Doerun,
sister of the bride, was matron
of honor. Miss Nancy Irwin was
maid of honor; Miss Carol Koop
mann and Miss Judy Koopmann,
sisters of the bride, and Miss
Janet Sallette of Savannah were
bridesmaids. All wore floor
length light blue crepe dresses
with a lace yolk and a short
train. Their headpieces of blue
illusion fell chin length from a
rose made of crepe and lace.
They carried white Duchess
roses with white velvet stream
ers cascading to the floor.
Little Miss Paige Proctor,
niece of the bride, was dressed
exactly like the other attendants
and carried a white lace basket
of rose petals. Master Rusty
Hobbs of Metaire, La., nephew
of the groom, was ring bearer.
The bride wore a lovely floor
length bridal dress of white or
ganza over taffeta with bands of
Chantilly lace on the sleeves and
around the bottom of the dress
and appliques of Chantilly lace
at the neck and body of the gown.
Her train was of organza border
ed with lace and her shoulder
length veil of illusion was held
with lace leaves, bordered with
pearls and accented with crystal.
Sie carried a bridal bouquet of
stephanotis and tube roses cen
tered with a white orchid.
The bride’s mother wore a
rose silk shantung and lace dress
with a matching three-quarter
coat and a rose colored
cymbidium orchid. The groom’s
mother wore a deep blue lace
dress and a white cymbidium
orchid corsage.
RECEPTION
Immediately following the
ceremony a reception was held
in the church social hall. Mrs.
Phillip Hess, aunt of the bride,
kept the bride’s book at the
bride’s table. A cupid holding
an arrangement of blue pom pons
decorated the table.
The cake table was overlaid
with a white linen and lace em
broidered cloth. The four-tier
ed wedding cake formed the fo
cal point, the tiers were upheld
by white columns and in the center
of the posts holding the top layer
was an arrangement of white
roses, blue carnations and a
blue cymbidium orchid. Three
wedding bells topped the cake.
Mrs. John Lipsey of Albany,
cut the cake assisted by Miss
Cindy Taylor of Albany.
The refreshment table held
an arrangement of white Fuji
mums and white candles, it was
covered with a lace cloth. Punch
was served from a sterling sil
ver punch bowl by Mrs. Vic
Correll of Statesboro, Ga., as-

Piano music of wedding songs
and popular love songs were
presented by Mrs. Hewett
McGraw during the reception.
Later in the evening the couple
left for a honeymoon to the Great
Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg.
They will make their home in
Statesboro where they will con
tinue their education at Georgia
Southern College.
REHEARSAL
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bridges,
parents of the groom, entertain
ed members of the wedding party
and relatives at a rehearsal din
ner at the Colquitt Hotel, Moul
trie, on Friday evening in the
Starlight Room.
The tables were centered with
a large arrangement of yellow
gladioli and yellow and white
mums, and silver candelabra
holding tall yellow candles.
The groom presented gifts to
his attendants and to the bride’s
mother; and the bride and groom
exchanged gifts.
The bride wore a dark green
lace and peau de sole with match
ing peau de soie shoes. Thirty
four attended the dinner.
LUNCHEON
Mrs. Phillip Hess of Atlanta,
Mrs. J. S. Peters, of Lakeland,
Ga., Mrs. Ira Massey of Bar
wick, Ga., Mrs. O. P. Pearson
of Homer, La., and Mrs. John
R, Pinson, Jr., of Baconton, Ga.,
all aunts and great aunts of the
bride, were hostesses at the
bride’s luncheon Saturday at noon
at the Radium Springs Inn, Al
bany Ga.
The bride presented gifts to her
attendants. Twenty-one attended
the luncheon. The bride wore
a white linen outfit with appli
ques of lace and white peau de
soie shoes.

The bride-elect graduated
from Blakely High School and
received an Executive Secre
tarial Degree from Crandall Col
lege, Macon, Georgia. She is
presently a junior at the Uni
versity of West Florida.

trol and Surveillance Operator
at Campion, Alaska.

tives of the couple are extended

ceremony.
