The first meeting of the Blak

September 13, at the clubhouse

to the club members soliciting
support in the project, the All-
Night-Sing, the proceeds from
which will go to the equipment
fund for the two special class
es at Early County High and
Elementary School.

President Kitchens were: Mrs.
Donald Giles, Mrs. Dillion Smith,
Mrs. William Mills and Mrs.
Frances Stratton.
Mrs. J. H. Crowdis, Jr., gave

was discussed, but no action
taken. Mrs. J. R. Burkes was
named chairman of the Fruit
Cake Sales and as chairman of
this project Mrs. Burkes asked
all who have bought fruit cakes

Mrs. Charles Alford was named
Chairman of the Marathon Bridge
project is expected to get under
way the last of September.
Mrs. E. H. Giles presented
the program, emphasizing the
history and by-laws of the Blak
ely Woman’s Club and the im
portance of adherring to the by
laws for a more effective
organization.
Hostesses at the covered dish
luncheon were, Mrs. Kitchens,
Mrs. Giles and Mrs. Marshal
Day. Attractive arrangements
of fall flowers decorated the long
luncheon tables.
Vermont is the Green Moun
tain State.
Circle Meeting
Alta Lovegrew Circle held the
last meeting of the church year
at the home of Miss Annie Grier.
Mrs. O. H. King, Circle Chair
man, presided. Mrs. Ollln Goo
cher was in charge of the pro
gram "Studying for Service".
Those assisting her with the
program were Mrs. Donald Wide
ner, Mrs. O. H. King, Mrs. F. E.
Davis, Miss Annie Grier, and
Miss Lottie B. Phelps. The
president of all the night circles,
Mrs. Jim Perkins, who was visit
ing with the circle led in prayer.
A gift was presented to Mrs.
O. H. King who is the retiring
circle chairman. Nine members
DAR Meeting
The Peter Early Chapter,
Daughters of the American Revo
lution, will meet Thursday, Sept,
19, at 3:30 p.m. at the Town and
Country Club with Mrs. John
Williams, Sr., as hostess. Miss
Charlotte Grist, Junior member
and Constitution Week Chair
man, will present the program.
Mrs. C. E. Boyett, Jr. is regent.
