during the past twelve years.

FHA Hobo Day
Set For Saturday
The Early County High School
Future Homemakers of America
Chapter announces that Hobo Day
will be Saturday, September 21.
This annual FHA custom will be
a part of the initiation for new
members. Blakely homemakers
are urged to relax on this day and
leave their cleaning duties to
FHA Hobo’s when they call.
With washing dishes they do
well
In window washing, they ex
cell.
Furniture dusting, they shine the
wood.
Polishing silver they are very
good.
Baby sitting they know the way
and raking leaves they know is
not play.
So any chore that you detest,
Save for FHA’ers who will do
their best.
Etonations received from this
project will be used to help
finance Chapter activities during
the year.

Two Local Boys
Awarded Regents
Scholarship
Two 1968 Early County High
School graduates are among the
twenty two Middle Georgia Col
lege students having been award
ed Regents Scholarships for the
1968-69 academic year.
Being awarded a Regents
Scholarship is a distinct honor,
according to Dr. William H.
McCammon, Director of Finan
cial Aid. These scholarships,
established and administered by
the Board of Regents of the Uni
versity System of Georgia, are
awarded on the basis of scholar
ship as well as financial need.
The recipients are limited to
residents of Georgia whose high
school grades and College En
trance Examination Board scores
predict they will be in the upper
25 percent of their class. To
recieve subsequent scholarships,
students must maintain this high
scholastic average.
Early County students who will
receive Regents Scholarships for
the first time are W'ally Houston,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Griffin
Houston and Jim Barksdale, son
of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Barks
dale.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Swann,
of Kingsport, Tenn., announce
the birth of a son, Scott Hall,
born September 9.
Paternal grandparents are
Mrs. Hall Swann and the late
Mr. Swann of Blakely. Maternal
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh La Rue of Knoxville, Tenn.

Duke of Atlanta announce the
birth of a son, Joel Thomas,
born September 15 at Georgia
Baptist Hospital, Atlanta. Mrs.
Duke is the former Janet Dekle
Blakely. Paternal grandparents
are Ms. and Mrs. Lewis B.
Duke of Riverdale, Ga.; maternal
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Kermit Dekle of Blakely. The
Dekles’ were in Atlanta Satur
day and Sunday, visiting their
little grandson and his parents.

Dr. Joseph P. Vidosic, Dean
of Middle Georgia College, has
announced that two stutjents from
Early County made the Dean’s
List for the Summer quarter.
