ghter, Theresa Moore to William
Henry Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Felix P. Davis, Jr., of Blakely.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Kirby Moore, Blakely and Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur White, Sr., of Ar
lington, Georgia. She is a gradu
ate of Early County High School
and is presently employed in the
Early County Tax Evaluator’s
Office.
Mr. (Billy) Davis is the grand
son of Mrs. Felix P. Davis, Sr.,

Store in Blakely, Georgia.

Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Kelly,
of Jefferson, visited friends in
Blakely during the week end, and
attended the Yutzler, Baxley wed
ing. Mrs. Kelly is the former
Miss Margaret Kelly of Blakely.
Major and Mrs. Darrell M.
Graverson and three sons of
Dothan leave July 15 for Ft.
Ord, Calif. Mrs. Graverson
is the former Vivian Pace of
Blakely.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Fitzgib
bons from Memphis, Tenn, and
three daughters, Cathy, Nancy,
and Eleanor, are visiting Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Jordan.
Mrs. Sammy Jordan from
Warren, N. J. and children
Jeannie and Robert, are also
visiting their parents, Mr. and-
Mrs. Bob Jordan.
Mrs. Bobbie Ruth Jordan from
Atlanta who has been visiting her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mills,.
Jordan, has returned to Atlanta.
Mrs. H. A. Hargrove has re
turned home following a 3 week
visit with her daughter, Mrs.
J. T. LeGrove and family, in
Baltimore, Md. Mrs. LeGrove
is the former Joy Hargrove of
Blakely. Mrs. Hargrove visited
many interesting places in that
area while in Baltimore.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Barbree and
children, Dick and Debra,of Gran
ville, Ohio, are visiting in
Blakely-
Tommy Harvey, a student at
Marion Institute this summer,
has been listed on the Dean’s
List for the first semester of the
summer session. Diring the past
week he was promoted to private
first class, making two honors
received recently. His parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harvey,
visited Tommy at the Institute
on Sunday, July 13.

Jim Barksdale and Cal Cox
of Edison left Monday for Cape
Kennedy to be on hand for the
Apollo 11 blast-off for the moon,
Wednesday. They wanted to be
among those on hand to see the
take off for the trip that will
enable man to set foot on the
moon.
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Mills, Jr.,
■and sons, Ralph 111 and Steve,
spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. R. E. Mills, Sr. and Mr.
F. B. Melton. Steve spent the
following week with his grand
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Sr. Mrs. Harvey J. Mills and
children, Jermi, Carol, Eliza
beth, and Tommy, of Atlanta
spent several days last week with
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Mills, Sr.
The Mulkey reunion is to be
held at Kolomoki State Park Sun
day, July 20. Friends and rela
tives are cordially invited to
attend.
Mrs. Mary Hamlet, of Moul
trie, Ga., came to Blakely the
past week. Mrs. Evelyn Snyder,
Mrs. Willa Moore, and Mrs. Ethel
Jenkins joined her in a visit to
Atlanta to see Six Flags Over
Georgia and other places of
interest.

Engagement Told
MISS SANDRA LUMPKIN
Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Lumpkin
of Blakely announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Sandra
Yvonne Lumpkin to William
(Buddy) McKeller, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ellis McKeller, all
of Blakely.
Miss Lumpkin is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus
Lumpkin of Cuthbert and the
late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jones
of Bluffton. The bride-elect is
a graduate of Early County High
Mr. and Mrs. David Crum
and family have moved to De
Redder, La. where Mr. Crum
will be associated with Boise-
Southern and Mrs. Crum will
be a teacher in the elementary
school there. They resided in
Blakely six years. Mr. Crum
was with Great Northern Paper
Co. and Mrs. Crum was a sth
grade teacher.
The Rev. and Mrs. Claude
Barfield have returned to Bla
kely after spending several weeks
in Douglasville, Ga. where they
attended the funeral of Mr. Bar
field’ s father and remained with
his mother for over a week fol
lowing the funeral.
Friends sympathize with the
Barfield family in the death of
his father who was a musician
and well known singer in the
Douglasville area, near Atlanta..
Mrs. Tommy Jordan, Jan and
Cheryl Jordan of Richmond, Va.
are spending this week with Mr.
and Mrs. J. T. Jordan in Bla
kely.
Ann Hasty, who recently re
turned to Blakely moving here
from Panama City, Fla. is attend
ing the well known Baptist Sum
mer Camp at Ridgecrest. N.C.,
going wih a group of thirty-two
young people from St. Andrews
Baptist Church, Panama City.
They will return Friday, July 18.
Mrs. Tom Bynum of Fitzgerald
was the recent guest of Mrs. J.
G. Peters.
“Jimmy" asked the teacher,

Mrs. Theo Williams, the for
mer Miss Ginnie Manry, whose
recent marriage to Mr. Williams,
was honored with a miscellaneous
shower at the home of Mrs.
Woodrow Houston on South
Church Street, Monday evening
June 30. Co-hostesses with Mrs.
Houston were Mrs. Billy Joe
Jordan, Mrs. Perry L. Bridges,
Mrs. Harvey Brown, Mrs. Ralph
Balkcom and Mrs. Linton Willis-
Mrs. Balkcom led the guests
in playing two games, the honoree
was presented the prizes by the
winners.
Mrs. Williams wore a dress
of natural linen with eyelet trim
at the neck. She and her mother,
Mrs. J. T. Manry, were pre
sented corsages by the hostesses.
After the gifts were opened and
displayed, the hostesses served
punch, sandwiches and cake to the
26 guests present.
Eclipse roses in attractive ar
rangements were used in the re
ception rooms.

for Mrs. Richard Grist, Jr., of
Blakely and Mrs. Pace Whitehead
of Jackson, Mississippi. Mrs.
Grist is the former Pamela Hous
ton and Mrs. Whitehead is the for
mer Wanda Sue Varner of Selma,
Ala.
Guests were greeted at the door
by Mrs. Richard Grist. Sr. The
receiving line was composed of
the hostess and the honorees.

and green zinnias in an attractive
arrangement in a green compote
decorated an end table in the
living room.
Mrs. Robert Collier invited
guests into the dining room. An
imported linen and lace cutwork
cloth overlaid the beautifully ap
pointed table- Pink carnations,'
white gladioli and leather leaf
fern in a footed crystal bowl
centered the table flanked by
crystal candle holders with crys
tal bochetes holding pink tapers.

the birth of a daughter, Nancy
Hodges, born July 8 at a Cham
bersburg hospital. Mrs. Myers
is the former Lyn Hodges of

are Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Hodges
of Blakely.

table- Punch was served by Mrs.
F. D. Grist, Mrs. R.C. Singletary,
and Mrs. A. J. Singletary.
Mrs. W. J. Grist, grandmother
of Pace Whitehead and Richard
Grist, Jr., greeted guests on the
spacious tiled porch. Presiding
at the sterling silver punch bowl
on the refreshment table on the
porch were Mrs. Al Felder and
Mrs. Roy McKinney. Mrs. J. E.
Sandstorm of Albany, Georgia,
aunt of the recent bridegrooms,
assisted inthe hospitalities during
the afternoon.
Potted chrysanthemums and
potted caladiums added a decora
tive background to the porch
setting. Approximately one hun
dred and fifty called during the
tea hours.
Mrs. Roy McKinney entertain
ed at a buffet supper at her
country home Friday night in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Grist, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs-
Pace Whitehead of Jackson,
Mississippi.
Eighteen attended the delight
