the engagement of their daughter,
Mary Marsha, to William Michr
ael White, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Alma White, of Blakely, Georgia.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mrs. Lee Lafayette
Marsh and the late Mr. Marsh
of Samson, Alabama, and Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Dudley Heath
of Enterprise, Alabama. Miss
Heath graduated from Clay Coun
ty High School and attends Troy

Jaycees Wed.
The Blakely Jaycees held their
regular meeting Wednesday
night, October 15, at the Bank
of Early.
Ben Rogers, general manager
of Blakely Homes, Inc., was the
guest speaker. He was intro
duced by Jaycee Phillip Moore
who arranged the program. In
his remarks Mr. Rogers expres
sed his pleasure over the re
ception Blakely Homes have re
ceived in the community. He
also discussed the mobile home
industry particularly as related
to this section of the country and
discussed some of the expansion
plans for the local firm.
Jaycee Ray Perkins introduced
Jaycee Phillip Moore who gave
an inspiring talk on Jayceeism
as the Speak-up-Jaycee portion
of the meeting.
The Halloween committee an
nounced that the Trick-or-treat
candy has arrived and anyone in
terested may purchase this candy
from any Jaycee member.
The club voted to conduct a
safe driving campaign to be call
ed, “Save Lives - Join the Jay
cee Safety Drive.” Jaycee Billy
Me Fay was appointed general
Chairman. There will be nine
concentrated activity areas in
this campaign and sub-committee
. chairmen of each will be an
nounced later. The Jaycees urge
; everyone in Blakely and Early
. County to give them their full
“ support and cooperation in this
effort.

Mr. White is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Maston II
White of Blakely, Georgia, and
Mrs. William Robert Harrell and
the late Mr. Harrell of Donalson
ville, Georgia. He is a senior
at Auburn University and his
major is Aerospace Engineering.
The wedding will take place
January at six o’clock in the
First United Methodist Church,
Fort Gaines, Georgia.
Early Churches
to be featured by
Historical Society
t The Histories of Churches in
Early County which have passed
the century mark will be featured
at the December meeting of the
Barty County Historical Society.
Mrs. Clyde Griffin and Mrs. G. J.
Correll, librarians at the First
Baptist Church, Blakely, are in
charge of the program.
Mrs. Griffin has several
church histories and has announ
ced she would like for the other
churches in Early County who
were constituted a hundred years
ago or longer, be listed on this
program of the Historical So
ciety.
Following the program, all in
formation and material will be
fil^d in the Tarly Cqynty Library
where fee Historical*‘Society
hopes to have histories in every
area which can be compiled, to
be available.
In gathering material for the
Histories of Early County
churches, Mrs. Griffin is ask
ing members of the churches
in the county (a hundred years
old) write her or phone for an
appointment 723-5712. Church
histories must be authenticated
and information must be taken
from church records; in talking
to Mrs. Griffin interested per
sons can learn just what infor
mation they need to secure.

cees. The Blakely Jaycees won
the man mileage award (award
ed to the Chapter with the lar
gest number of miles travelled
round trip to the meeting.) A
ccording to the local president
the chapter was especially proud
that Jaycee Ronald Taylor won
the Region Speaking Contest with
his speech entitled "GiveCeasar
What He Is Due.”
To be eligible for VA educa
tional assistance, veterans must
have had at least 181 days of
continuous service, part of it
after Jan. 31, 1955, while a
serviceman must have complet
ed at least two consecutive years
of active duty.

A Gospel Sing will be held
at the First Free Will Baptist
Church, Donalsonville, Ga., Sat

business meeting and missionary
program.
In the absence of the presi
dent, Mrs. Winston Felder, and
vice-president, Mrs. Sally Pat
ton, Mrs. George Courtney, sec
retary, presided, opening the
meeting with prayer and con
ducting a brief business ses
sion.
The major part of the ses
sion was given to the presen
tation of a movie, "Understand
ing China and the Chinese
People,” which was produced
and partly narrated by W’illiam

School Class of the Southside
Baptist Church held their month
ly meeting at the home of Mrs.
Guy Stanley Monday at 8:00 p.m.
There were seven’ members pre
sent and two visitors, Mrs.
Jimmv James and Mrs. J. T.

the afternoon’s program. In ad

Mrs. Crowdis closed the meeting
with a prayer for China.

theme, “Identify Yourself” and a
Bible Quiz.
The meeting was closed with
prayer by Mrs. Curran. Tea
and cake were served by the
