Miss Sandra Lynn Gaddis,
daughter of Mrs. Tillian Brooks
Gaddis and the late Lawrence
Martin Gaddis, became the bride
of Ronald Edward Jones, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Jones, Bla
kely, Ga., September 11th at the
Quaker Memorial Presbyterian
Church, Lynchberg, Virginia.
Minister James G. Thompson
performed the double-ring cere
mony.
A program of wedding music
played by T. Hadley Hunt, organ
ist, was selected from various
compositions of Bach, Brandon,
Williams, Purcell and Karg-El
ert.
The sanctuary was graced with
palms and ferns, withh two large
arrangements of gladioli, snap
dragons, large chrysanthemums,
flanked by two seven branch,can
delabra holding tall tapers on
either sida of the alter.
Given in marriage by her bro
ther, Charles O. Gaddis, the
bride wore a formal gown of white
satin trimmed in venise daisy
lace, of empire style and cap
sleeves. Her mantilla veil was
trimmed with venise daisy lace.
The bride carried a bouquet
of white feathered, carnations
and ivy-centered with large white
orchards with pink throats.

attendants were gowned in floor
length dresses styled like that
of the bride with matron of honor
in peach taffeta, covered by flow
ers printed organza, with match
ing sash. Headpiece of matching
satin bow with tinted short veil.
Bridesmaids were dark green
taffeta with same flower print
organza, dark green sash and
matching satin bow with tinted
short veil. They carried nose
gays of yellow mums with rib
bon streamers to match the
dress.
Mr. Virgil Jones,Blakely, Ga.,
was best man; usher groomsmen
were Lee George and Joe Shef
field of Blakely, Ga.
The bride’s mother wore a
turquoise knit dress, featuring a
lace yoke and sleeves. Her
corsage was yellow orchids. The
grooms mother wore a pink
princess line dress of polyester
shantung featuring jeweled but
tons. Her corsage was pink
orchids.
Following the ceremony, the
bride’s mother held a reception

cement of a meeting in Macon,
October 19, made by Mrs. H. M.
Richardson, Lineage Research
Chairman, NSDAR.
Mr. George B. Everton, Sr.,
author of THE HANDY BOOK FOR
GENEALOGISTS, WILL speak in
Macon Tuesday, October 19,1971
at 7 P.M. at the Scottish Rite
Temple, 1985 Vineville Avenue.
Mr. Everton’s illustrated lecture
“Genealogical Research in Great
Britain”, is sponsored by the
Genealogist and Historical Room
of Washington Memorial Library
Tickets are $2.00 and may be
secured from the Genealogical
and Historical Room. Due to
limited seating, it is necessary
to purchase tickets in advance.

From 1967 to 1970, Mr. Ever
ton and wife, Ellen, were super
vising the microfilming of
records in England, Ireland,
Scotland and Wales. This is a
unique opportunity to receive
first hand knowledge on the lo
cation and use of English records.

The Ladies Golf Association
will hold their regular monthly
luncheon meeting Tuesday, Oct
ober 5, 1971, at the Town and
Country Club. If you do not
plan to attend this meeting be
sure to call the Pro Shop or
Oscar Lewis.
At the September meeting new
officers were elected as follows:

refreshment table was overlaid
with floor-length cloths-blue net
over satin. Mrs. Clyde Dunaway
kept the bride’s book. Gail
Jones cut the cake and Diane Jo
nes served punch. Both are
sisters of the groom.
After returning from their
wedding trip the couple are re
siding in Athens, where both
will continue their education at
the University of Georgia.

Jaycees Present Miss
Pickle With Gift

At the monthly dinner meeting of the Blakely Jaycees, Miss
Ann-Aline Pickle was presented a bracelet with monogramed
charm by David Atkins. Miss Pickle was selected by the Bla
kely Jaycees to represent Early County in the Miss Lake Eu
faula Beauty Contest held in Eufaula, Alabama, August 27th.
Several members traveled to Eufaula to cheer Ann-Aline. The
Jaycees would also like to thank the Blakely Jaycettes for
helping select the gift.

Recipes
POUND CAKE
1 lb. butter
2 2/3 c. sugar BT. coffee cream
3 1/2 c. sifted flour It. vanilla
8 medium eggs
Seperate eggs. Whip the eggsand
add 6 level teaspoons of sugar
while beating. Place this mix
ture in the refrigerator until rest
of cake is mixed. Cream the
butter, add gradually remaining
of sugar and whip until light.
Add egg yolks about 2 at a time
beating well after each addition.
Add flour and cream alternately.
Whip until the mixture is light as
possible. Use low speed with
mixer. Whip in the egg whitd
only long enough to mix well.
Pour batter into lightly greased
tube pan, 10” in diameter and 4”
deep. Bake as you would an an
gel food. This will be about 1
hour and 25 min. at 300 degrees
F. This cake is of wonderful
texture and it can be sliced as
thin as a dime. It’s worth giv
ing a party just to bake it.

ICEBOX FRUIT CAKE
1 lb. marshmallows
1 lb. raisins (dark)
1 lb. Graham Crackers
4 c. pecans (chopped)
1 c. milk
Crushed crackers real fine. Chop
nuts. Mix nuts, crackers and
raisins. Then melt marshmal
lows in milk. Combine the 2
mixtures and mix well. Pack
back in graham cracker box that
is lined with handiwrap. store
in refrigerator over night before
serving.

CHOCOLATE PIE
(This recipe is from a chef in
a famous night club in New York)
Filling:
2 sticks butter
3 eggs
1 c. chopped pecans
2 c. 4X sugar
2 1/2 sq. Bakers choc, (melted)
1 1/2 t. vanilla
12 oz. pkg. vanilla wafers
Cream butter, sugar, add egg
yolks, melted chocolate. Mix well
Add vanilla, nuts. Beat egg
whites. Add 3T. sugar. Fold
into choc, mixture. Line botton
of container with crushed wafers
that have been mixed with 2 sticks
melted butter. Pour in mixture
cover with vanilla wafers. Place
in refrigerator for at least 12
hours before serving. Top with
whipped cream flavored with
sherry or vanilla.
