Susan Goocher and Phillip
Mcßroom were united in marriage
June 28,1982 at six o’clock in the after
noon at the home of the groom’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Mcßroom,
Defuniak Springs, Fla. The ceremony
was performed by Rev. Phil Shanks.
The bride was given in marriage by
her father. She wore a formal length
wedding gown of white satin, made by
her mother. The lace bodice had the
empire effect with lace cap sleeves
and satin bows on the shoulders. A
wide border of lace was around the
hem of the gown. Her veil was full

Arrowhead hunting is a favorite
past time for many Early County
citizens and for those of you who enjoy
arrowhead collecting, the Early Coun
ty Library is the place to visit during
July and August. On display for these
months is an extensive collection of
arrowheads, Indian artifacts, and
fossils.
The display is owned by Joel
Houston, of Blakely, with a few of the
pieces belonging to Ed Nelson, also of
Blakely. Included in the display are
tools, gaming stones, pottery, and dif
ferent types of arrowheads. Fossils of

Meet At Kolomoki State Park
The Pilot Club of Blakely will meet
at Kolomoki State Park for their
regular dinner meeting, Tuesday, Ju
ly 27. Robert Sheffield, Scoutmaster
for Troup 91 will present the program.
Miss Bessie Lewis is Patriotism
Chairman; Mrs. Ewa Roberts is
Coordinator for Programs, 1982-83.
Mrs. Hugh Eubanks, President of
the Pilot Club, opened the July 13
meeting with a devotion, Mrs. J.O.

flowers appiiqued on the veil and a
border of lace around the edges. She
carried a long spray of silk flowers
and a ribbon of burgundy and pink.
She wore a gold bracelet of her great
grandmother’s and had a six pence in
her shoe, borrowed from her cousin,
Phyllis Mosely.
After the wedding ceremony, a
reception supper was served by the
groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud
Mcßroom.
The couple will be residing in Blake
ly, Ga.

Story Hour Tuesday, July 27 will be
a favorite with animal lovers. Stories
about different animals will be shared
and animal visitors will also be at the
library. Among the animals visiting
will be a baby skunk, raccoons, and
rabbits. Story Hour is held every
Tuesday at 3 p.m.
The Early County Library is located
at 628 Columbia Road, is open
Monday-Friday from 9:00-5:30 p.m.
to the Flag.
Year Books were distributed by
Mrs. Mary King. Mrs. Napier is Inter
nal Affairs Coordinator; Mrs. Ewa
Roberts, Projects Coordinator; and
Mrs. Claire Houston is Outreach Coor
dinator.
Following the business meeting,
members worked on crafts for the
Arts & Crafts Festival, sponsored by
the Early County Historical Society in
October.

Winston Chandler, Jr. of Albany ex
hanged wedding vows July 3rd at the
Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. Michael G. Mcßride of Albany
and the parents of the bridegroom are
Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Chandler of
Blakely.
Dr. Mcßride performed the 2:00
p.m. double-ring ceremony before a
central arrangement of white glads,
large white chrysanthemums and fuji
chrystanthemums. A background of
palms and fems were flanked by
white candelabra woven with greenry
and yellow and white chrysan
themums. A white satin kneeling
bench completed the setting.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a white Chantilly lace
gown with a Victorian neckline and a
sheer V-bodice accented with Venise
lace appliques and seed pearls. The
tiered skirt of Chantilly lace ruffles
trimmed in white satin ribbons was
worn over a hoop skirt. The matching
hat was held with a wide satin ribbon
bow from which the lace train was at
tached. She carried a cascade bou
quet of yellow sweet heart roses,
white roses, ivy and lily-of-the-valley.
Heidi Chase of Joplin, Mo. was the
maid of honor. Bridesmaids were San
dy Brady, Kathy Segelmen and
Stacey Mcßride, sister of the bride,
all of Albany. They wore yelloe gowns
ruffled at the neck with yellow lace
and gathered at the waist. The long
full skirts were worn over hoop skirts.
They carried bouquets of yellow
roses. Sarah Bostwick of Valdosta and
Kimberly Bostwick of Tallahassee,
Fla. were the flower girls. They wore
dresses matching the bridesmaids
and carried white baskets with white
and yellow roses.
Timothy Chandler, served his
brother as best man. Groomsmen
were Greg Bostwick of Tallahassee,
Fla., Dale Bostwick, Blakely, cousins
of the groom and Michael G. Mcßride,
Jr., brother of the bride.
The brides mother chose, for the oc
casion, a full length gown of dusty
rose quina and a white orchid cor
sage The grooms mother wore a full
length gown of baby blue lace with a
whie orchid corsage.
Reception
Following the wedding ceremony, a
reception was given in the church
Social Hall. The guests were
registered as they entered. The brides
table was covered with embroidered
lace over yellow satin, centered with a
five-tiered wedding cake. The cake
was beautifully decorated and sur
rounded with fresh yellow chrysan
themums and Ivy. The cake was serv
ed by Mrs. John L. Brunson and Mrs.
Lemuel Knight of Albany.

Pittmans Host Mosely Family Reunion
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Pittman and
son Ernest, were hosts for the Mosely
family reunion at their home on Ft.
Gaines St., Blakely, Ga., July 5,1982.
Descendants of the late Lazarus
Mosely and Trudie Stovall Mosely of
Early County, Ga. Children in at
tendance, other than Mrs. Vetta Pitt
man, were: Mrs. Marion Smith and
busband James, Mrs. Frances
Hunter, Mr. Nehemiah Mosely Jr. and
son of Aliquippa, Pa; Mr. Uylsses
Mosely of West Palm Beach, Fla.;
Mr. Harvey Mosely and wife
Madeline of Cliffwood, NJ.; Mrs.
Rainelle Beanford, husband Otis and
daughter Kimberly, Dothan, Ala.;
Mrs. Trudie Brown and husband
William of Waynesboro, Ga.; Mr. Ber
nice Mosely and wife Norma and Mr.
silver punch bowl. Nuts, mints, and
other finger foods were served.
During the reception bird seed bags
were distributed to the guests.
For traveling the bride wore a white
embroidered dress eith matching ac
cessories and a bouquet of yellow
roses.
Following a wedding trip to Atlanta
and Calloway Gardens the couple will
reside in Albany where Paul is
employed as a cryogenic engineer
with Air Products and Chemical Co.
Parties
On Friday, July 2, Mr. and Mrs.
Paul W. Chandler were hostesses at
the rehearsal dinner given in the
social hall at Byne Memorial Baptist
Church. The Hall was decorated with
fems and greenery. Round tables
covered with white cloths were used.
Each table held an arrangement of
yellow and lavender chrysan
themums centered with a yellow can
dle. After a delicious meal, the bride
and groom presented gifts to their at
tendants.
Sara Mcßride was honored with a
Tea Shower at Byne Memorial Baptist
Church with the Woman’s Missionary
Union as hostesses. The social hall
was lovely with palms and fems
throughout. Arrangements of sum
mer flowers were used on the serving
tables and gift tables. Punch, Cake,
Cheese straws, nuts, and other finger
foods were served. Sara, Mrs.
Michael Mcßride and Mrs. Paul
Chandler were introduced to approx
imately 85 guests as they arrived.
Sara Mcßride was honored with a
Miscellaneous Shower at the home of
Mrs. Larry White with Mrs. Leonard
White and Mrs. E.A. Marshall as
hostesses. The lovely home was
beautifully decorated for the occa
sion. Sara was presented a platter of
her chosen china by the hostesses.
Delicious refreshments were served.

Beulah.
Other relatives in attendance were:

Hattie Frank, all of Blakely, Ga.
Those in attendance celebrating bir
thdays in July were: Mrs. Marion
Smith, Mr. Bernice Mosely, Mr.
Ulysses Mosely and Mr. Theo Pitt
man. They were presented lovely gifts
and cards of family members. After a
week of festivities, reminising about
the past and predictions of the future,
the family members returned to their
respective homes.

Barksdale of Marietta, Ga., announce
the birth of a son, Cobb William
Barksdale, bom July 1, 1982 at Ken
nest one Hospital, Marietta.
Cobb was named for his great
grandfather, Dr. Cobb R. Barksdale;
his father; his grandfather, William
Marcine; and his great-grand
grandfather, William Alfred
Barksdale, all of Blakely.
Cobb’s mother is the former Sue
Toole of Arlington. His brothers and
sisters are Marc, Melinda and Amy.

ly announce the birth of 6 lb, 9 oz boy,
Michael LaDon, bom June 29, at the
Medical Center in Columbus, Ga.
Grandparents are Mrs. Lorelie
Suggs and the late Aubrey Suggs of
Blakely and Mr. and Mrs. Rayford
Pyles of Columbus, Ga.
Great grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Aplin of Columbus.
Great-great-grandmother is Mattie
Craft at Columbia, Ala.
Local
Mr. and Mrs. Durward Evans had a
safe and enjoyable trip out to Idabel,
Oklahoma. While visiting their son &
family (Roger, Paula & Talisa), they
also took a trip to Roccona, Texas to
visit with Durwards sister & family,
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brock.
