Alexia White and Jerry Griffin were
united in marriage in a candlelight
ceremony at eight o'clock on the even
ing of Jan. 15, at the Southside Baptist
Church, Blakely, Georgia. The double
ring ceremony was performed by J.
C. Odum of Port St. Joe, Fla.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs.
Shirley M. White and the late Clyde A.
White of Blakely. Parents of the
groom are Mr. & Mrs. Arnold J. Grif
fin of Dothan.
A program of wedding music was
presented by Steve Williams,
organist, and Gayle Kennedy, panist.
Mrs. Debbie Smith, soloist, sang
“Two Candles”, “The Wedding
Song", “That's The Way” and
“Whither Thou Goest,”.“The Lord’s
Prayer” was sung by Jerry Griffin.
Given in marriage by her uncle,
John C. White of Bainbridge, Georgia,
the bride wore agown featuring a
Queen Anneneckline and a fitted
bodice covered with white lace and
accented with seed pearls and se
quins. The sleeves featured double
layers of chiffon and lace with cuffs
accented with pearls and sequins. The
full flowing skirt of taffeta and chiffon
featured a cathedral train and narrow
band of lace with pearls.
The bridal veil of tulle was edged in
lace featuring a cathedral train,and
was caught to a caplet of lace and
pearls. The bridal veil and portions of
the dress were designed and made by
the bride’s cousin, Rachel W. Dorough
of Albany, Ga. The bride carried a
live nosegay bouquet of yellow
rosebuds, violets, stephanotis and a
white orchid.
Miss Vivian White, sister of the
bride, sreved as maid of honor. Brid
maids were Nancy Harris of Ozark,
Celeste Home of Dothan, sister of the
groom, Mary Neal Brake of Atlanta,
cousin of the bride, Laure Adkins, Cin
dy Gentry of Blakely, Deidre Stewart
of Jonesboro, Ga.
The attendants wore gowns of grape
satin designed with fitted bodies and
long sleeves
Jana McLemore of Macon, Ga.,
cousin of the bride, was the flower girl
. Drew Harris, nephew of the groom,
served as ringbearer.
The groom’s father, Arnold J. Grif
fin of Dothan, Ala., served his son as
best man. Groomsmen were Don
Wilbourn,Eddie Yance, Keith Gaster,
Bill Roberts of Dothan, Tammy Home
of Dothan, and Porter Harris of
Ozark, bothers-in-laws of the
groom. Clark Harris of Ozark, nephew
of the groom, and Rob McLendon of
Blakely were candlelighters.
Reception
Following the ceremony, the bride’s
mother hosted a reception at the
church fellowship hall.

The delecious refreshments were
prepared by Esther Brake, Atlanta,
Aunt of the bride.
Bonnie Acree of Blakely attended
the brides book. Theresa Adkinson of
Blakely and Patti Deal of Donalson
ville served the bride’s cake. Rachel
Dorough of Albany and Ginger White
of Dothan served the grooms cake.
Robin Gatson of Augusta, Ga. and
Mallory McConnel of Columbus atten
ed the punch table.
Following the reception, as a wed
ding gift from a friend,the bridal cou
ple are carried away in a helicopter
on their wedding trip.
After a wedding trip to Florida, the
couple will reside in Dothan.
Pre-Nuptial Parties
A rehearsal party was hosted by the
groom’s parents at the Town and
Country Club in Blakely, Georgia.
A miscellaneous shower was given
at Southside Baptist Church, Blakely,
Ga. by Mabel Middleton, Meda
Williams, Lindy Hartly,Regine Jar
rett, Gayle Kennedy, Cynthia Nichols,
Judy Whitaker, Louise Holley, Becky
Gentry, William Bush, Theressa
Adkinson, Pat James, Martha Gene
Middleton and Jean Dennis.’
Acoffee was given by Mrs. Jane
McLendon and Mrs. Robert McLen
don.
A Bridemaides luncheon was hosted
by Mrs. Sibbie Smith, Bebe Clark,
Linda Smith, Eloiser Harris, Heneret
