M lio Was (iiaut t
Senator Wilson, in an elaborate
pptccii at Great Fulls,N.H., llasundeN
Inkeii to atiuwir this question. lie
said;
When the war opened he wa» earning a
few hundrtd dollars a jear lanning leather
out in Galena, lie offered bis eei vices to the
nation, and they were not accepted, lie
went down to Springfield, and served there
lor son.e weeks, helpn g to enroll and organ
ize the r.giinenls they were raising in Illi
nois. Finally, they gave him a regiment.
He had not*money enough to buy a sword
with which to fight the battles of his coun
try, nor ahorse to ride. You did not know
anylhii g about him, the nation knew noth
ing about him; few had beard of him.
In that statement is there not such
a suppression, as is a suggestion of
falsehood? lit was educated andgradu.
ated at West point. Why did he leave
the army ? Does not the Senator know?
And having left it, why was his social
aud pecuniary condition so low? Why
could a young man *in firm health,
with the advantages given by the best
education lire nation afforded at West
Point, not ascend above “a few hundr
ed dollars a year tanning leather in
Galena'’? Was the Senator honest
with his audience? How and why did
it happen that this retired young army
officer was in fact a dependent of the
Dent family till iho rebellion broke
out?
'Hie Senator adds;
lie has been President three years, follow-'
td by cbliqtiy anti reproach. He has made
some mistakes in appointments no doubt;
but the leading mensuiea in his admiuislrn-
tic us are in the interest of the country. The
masses of the people who have do grievan
ces, who only want good government, sec it
feci it, realize it. They believe we bare the
bisl administration Ibis nation lias seen for
forty years; nnd they are right in this con
viction The Republicans of the country
are louking to you, men of New Hampshire,
to recover your Stale,
l*ray what are the leading measures
of his administration if the Santo Doin-
irtgo job, and the Leet general order
imquitv, be not part ? Why has he
l)?cn ^censured as r.o President had
been up fo 1SC1, the advent of Repub
licanism ? If the masses of the peo
ple condemn the Censures why arc
they continued? Has not Senator'
Wilson himself reproached Grant for
want of proper tone in the administra
tion of his high cilice? Has he not
condemned his intimacy with the late
Jim Fisk, his acceptance of the hospi
talities of the steamboat and'theatre
of tlie latter, his nepotism, hisgift-tak-
ing, his indecent haste to be rich, his
junketing about the country, his re
peated absenco from tbe White House,
his selection of associates in New York
and elsewhere, bis persistent devotion
to the military “mess” and ring of In
galls, Babcock, Porter and company?*
Has not the Senator repeatedly stated
in conversation that he deplored the
•neeessity'which was on the Republi
can party of again taking up such a
candidate ?—X. )'.- World.

Are endorsed and prescribed by more leading
Physicians than any other tonic or stimulant
now in nse. They are A SURE PREVENTIVE
for Fever and Ague, Intcrmitlents, Billiousnese,
and all disorders arising from Miasmatic causes
They are highly recommended as an anti-dys
peptic, and in cases of indigestion are invaluable
as an Appetizer and Recuperant, and in case? of
Geneneral Debility they have never in asisgle
instance failed in producing the most happy re
sults. They are particularly BENEFICIAL TO
FEMALES,strengthening the body,invigoiating
the mind, and giving tone and elasticity to tbe
whole system. The HOME BITTERS arecom-
pounded with tbe greatest care, and no Tonic
Stimulant lias ever been offered to the public SO
PLEASANT TO THE TASE, and at the same
time combining so many remedial agents, in
dorsed by the medical fraternity as tbe best
known to the Pharmacopoeia. It costs little to
give them a fair trial, and

A CO.: Qentiemen—As you hare communicated
to the medical profession the recipe of. the
“Horae Bitters," it cannot, therefore, bo cen-
sidered as a secret or patent medicine, no patent
having been taken tor it. We have examined
the formulafor making the “Home Bitters,"and
unhesitatingly say the combination is one of rare
excellence, all the articles used in its composi
tion arc the best of the class to which they be
long, being highly Tonic, Stimulant, Stomachic,
Carminative and slightly Laxative. The mode
of preparing them is strictly in accordance with
the rules of pharmancy. Having used them,
seen its effect in our private practice, we take
pleasure in recommending them to all persons
desirous of taking Bitters, as being the best
Tonic and Stimulant now offered to the public.
