The Weekly Democrat. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1872. Then Hut Comforted Me. rr Mini lctbi« Oft thee* comas a dremrv boor. When no earthly thing can cheer, had we’re under sorrow’s power, L With no peace nor comfort near; Then in deep distress we fly Tb (he Lord—the Lord meet high. tefl we Him our tale of grief. And He listens to our prayer; Then to us sends relief. For His people are His care ; Israel He guides and keeps. Slumbers not and never sleeps. To the Lord, who lores to bend Down to earth a gracious ear, lit his children to attend, And their weak complaints to hear; ’Tie on Himjwe place our trust— Him who comforteth the just. Harri&ge Statistics- Those dry but useful people who de- *gbt in statistics have been investigat es the effect of marriage and celibacy oa mortality. They have demonstrated to their satisfaction the beneficial effect •f marriage upon longevity. The last pttBmi who has devoted his attention to this subject is M. Bertillon. His eta- *»*■*« cover the States of France, Hol> imd, and Belgium. According to M BartiUoa, between the ages of twenty ■■d thirty-five, out of 1,000 married ■>ew there are six deaths, and 1,000 widowers twenty-two deaths. Between thirty and thirty-five the deaths in the same number are : Married men seven, bachelors eleven, and widowers seven teen. Between thirty-five and forty yean of age the mortality per 1,000 is: Married men seven, bachelors thirteen, aai widowers seventeen. Continuing these calculations through different aeries of years, the advantage on the •core of longevity is always on the side of the married men. ■L; >ewara of Counterfeits I jos sosES' "mhhmmii" - an teumtatly otmunnu.
