Great Eastern Menagerie, Museum
and Caravan.
This grand aggregation of museum,
zoological and areoic wonders will open
in this city on Wednesday, Nov. 5th.
It will be remembered that last sea
son it achieved a tnost brilliant success
which is always evidence of the merit
of any exhibition of its character. But
since last summer the Great Eastern's
proportions have been augmented to co
lossal dimensions. It now uses a twelve
centre-pole tent instead of six. has
double the number of defig. vans, ani
mals. and a grand double circus com
pany. The business of this great estab
lishment is already assured. We append
the following heaTty indorsement from
a valuable Louisville exchange:
“It is the most gigantic affair of the
age. having a'n immense twelve centre-
pole tent, and comprises within its vari
ed departments the dazzling splupdor
of arenic talent, the instructive Wonders
of zoology, the attractive curiosities of
the museum; the thousands of pleasing
attraction of its many departments that
will greatly amuse, instruct and benefit
the public taste for a moral show, and
will at once display the wonderful ac-
c unplishment.s of genius and art.
••The Great Eastern is one of the
modem show triumphs, in which the
splendor of Rome in her golden age.
when the Imperial Caesar, Augustus
held sway in that magnificent empire is
entirely eclipsed. The tact, gening and
successful management in the compila
tion of this leviathan, stamps the origi
nators of the threat Eastern as the ni.m-
archs of American showmen, if, indeed,
they may not dispute the palm with the
world.
“A larger list of artists and artistes
was never before exhibited; a more cost
ly apparel for a circus never came to
gether; a better selection of animals and
curiosities cannot be found on the
globe.”
