Haralson Superior Court.
Tin ough the courtesy of our'young
friend, Mr K. A. Thrower, who furn
ished us transportation, we paid alias*
ty visit, the first of the week to Buc
hanan, the county site of Ilarulson
county, where the Superior Court is
being held. To a lover of nature, in
its most rugged and picturesque form,
many objects cif interest are to be seen
on the route, while he who believes
that the works of man are superior to
those of God, will find little to inter
est him, as the works of man are aw
lully “scace” on the greater portion
of this road.
On our arrival at Buchanan, we
found quite a respectable gathering
ot the people. Haralson county being
in the Rome Judicial Circuit,
llarvey of Rome, was presiding, with
Clements the newly appoi ited
solicitor General of the Circuit at his
post. Judge Harvey we soon learned,
by his courteous, dignilied and gentle*
manly bearing, while on the bench,
has won the respect and esteem of
both bar and people, so that he has the
best of order in his court, with jut any
trouble.
In addition to our local bar, the
most of whom were in attendance,
we noticed Major Blance, Captain
Dodd, I. R. Thomson Esq. and
giving Esq., from Polk county ; Col.
Forsyth from Rome, and the Haral
son county bar m the persons of Hon.
W. D. Head and Hon Walter Brock.
As ve left on Tuesday evening vve
did not learn the result ot the trial of the
murder cases, which were to be taken
up on Wednesday. Much interest
was manifested in these trials,
and it was expected that the largest
crowd of the week would be present
on that day. It was thought when
we left, that court would hold the en
lire week.
Buchanan, notwithstanding many
reports vveich vve had heard to the
contrary, vve found to lie a quiet and
well behaved little village. We
neither saw nor heard ot any dislur
bauoe while there.
Wanted—A good milch cow. Ap
ply at lb is office.
A . T. Chambers & Cos., have
opened anew blacksmith shop, back
of the Methodist church. Advertise
ment and further particulars next
week.
Debating Society.—The Carrollton
Debating Society is now in full blast.
We regret being unable to be with
the Society, on last Wednesday night.
The question for discussion, on that
occasion was : “ Widen is the best
passport into society, rank and wealth,
or moral and intellectual greatness,”
and under the manipulation oft he able
debaters belonging to the Society, vve
learn was well handled. The negative
or moral and intellectual greatness,
gained it. The Chairman for the oc
casion was Col. Jones, who presided
with great dignity and selt respect.
The best ot order is kept by the young
men, and these weekly discussions
wili no doubt be of much benefit to all
participating.

OBITUARY.
Died at her residence, near Villa
Rica, Ga. on the night of the 24th
inst., Mrs. Davis, mother of Prof. R
P. Davis of this place. The subject
of this brief notice, was a worthy and
most estimable lady, and was respec
ted and beloved by a large circle of
friends and acquaintances.
To her bereaved children, I tender
mv sympathy and most sincere con
dolence. I offer the following verses
a* a just tribute to her memory:
Gone over Jordan’s sto my wave,
To that happy blissful shore—
JTeep not o’er the new made grave,
She ll feel the pangs of death no more.
Goue from thetoi’s and cares,
That oft beset this house of clay,
Cone thro’ this dark vale of tears,
Up to the realms of endless day.
Cone from friends and kindred dear,
But ’tjs hoped they meet again,
W here the immortal spirits apjwar,
Linked in love’s eternal chain.
Cone where tlie dear Savior reigns,
In the matchless glory of his love ;
Who would not quit these earthly plains,
To dwell in the beautiful mansions above.

No Poison. —The Louisiana Creole
ILtir Restorer contains no poison to
lay the foundation of disease by its
use. Tt is not made up ot lancid or
cheap oils, their offensive ness covered
by the perfumer’s art. Its use does
not leave its sign in a huge patch of
greasy surface upon the shoulders of
the lady’s dress It is simply and en
tirely a bona fide hair dressing and
restorer, which acts upon the hair
bulbs, frees the surface of the scalp of
all scurf and dandruff, gives a tone to
the surface of the head, cures diseases
which effect the hair, and gradually
restores the natural color of hair which
has become gray from any cause.
I pon bald surface young and healthy
hair will spring forth, and thus may
the aged become young once more.
