HOMENEWS.
Mies Lillie Croft is absent, on a
visit to friends in Hmlonville,
Spaulding county.
Part of <»ur Waco correspondent’s
letter is left out this week, on ac
count of want of space. Ic will
appear next week.
Brother Fitts of the Haralson
Banner has been in the city sever
al days. We are glad to learn
from him that the Banner has a
liberal patronage.
Dr. Lee Fitts left on Saturday
morning for New A ork, where he
goes to attend the College of Phy
sicians and Surgeons. He will
probably not return until May.
Mr.Toin Chandler, who lost his leg
by an accident at his gin last week"
has not been doing very well, we
understand, but was thought to be
improving yesterday morning.
Mr. S. T. White will go to Bow
don Monday and remain a day or
two. Drs. S. T. and S. C. W hite
have a good many customers in that
thriving little city, and they will be
glad to see Sam’s genial face down
there.
The editor of the Times left, yes
terday, for Bowdon, where he will
stay a few days. He will find many
kind friends there, who will treat
him well. Our Bowdon people
arc well known for their hospital!
ty, not only to editors, but to all.
Mrs. Amanda Clinton, of near
Temple, and her entire family,
consisting of five children from 14
years of age down, have recently I
been down with typhoid fever.—
The first case was taker about the
7th of July and one after another
until the entire family was strug
gling with the disease. But thanks
to the faithful skill and unremit
ting attention of Dr. R. L. Rowe,
they are all again restored to
health.
A strange dog has been wander i
ing around in the Buck crock
neighborhood for some time. It
has been known to bite several
hogs, cows, etc., but not until Sat
urday of last week did it attack a i
human being. On that day, Bass
Stamps was out hunting, and this
dog came up to him. Mr.
S, thinking the dog to be
that of one of his neigh •
bore, commenced to fondle with it,
and when he patted its head the
canine grabbed him and tore
the skin awav from his hand.—
Thinking ho was bitten by a mad
dog, he came to town and had the
wound dressed bv Drs. J. F. AA.

CUTTING SCRAPE
Dr J. F. Cole was called out
into the country the otho.- cay to
' •■■‘Bend a wounded negro. It seems
.that Bill Muse, Col’d was cooking
ror a settlement baibecue, and
George Griffin, an old negro, com
menced to handle and cat the vict
uals that were being prepared by
the culinary darkey, and this so ip
ritated Pill that he told the old
man to desist, whereupon he le—
came infuriated, and, taking out his
knife, he began to cut and sla-h
around recklessly. He cut I;in
in one place on the arm, and stab
bed him in the back a cut four in
ches long to the ribs. Another
place was deeply incised across
the hips six inches long. Dr. Cole
thinks the stab in the back will
prove troublesome and perhaps fa
tal.
Very Remarkable Recovery.
Mr. Geo. V. Willing, of Man
chester, Mich., writes: “My wife
has been almost helpless for five
years, so helpless that she could not
tarn over in bed alcne. She used
two bottles of Electric Bitters, and
is so much improved, that the is
able now to do her own work.’’
Electric Bitters will do all that
)■" claimed for them. Hundreds
of testimonials attest their great
curative powers. Only fifty cents

Go.’s Drug Store.
OUT ON THE G-. P.
Wc had an agreeable trip to
Sand Hill, Villa Rica and Temple
last week. W. P. Cole Esq. with
his little sorrel, carried us to Sand
Hill. We enjoyed the brisk trot
and the crisp wintery air. There
was a sale of the personalty belong
ing to the estate of the late Wes<
ley Smith. The tax man was there,
and quite a crowd had been drawn
to gethcr, among whom we formed
some pleasant new acquaintances
and were kindly greeted by old
ones. From here we had a lively
ride behind Buck Dyer’s gray, to
V ilia Rica. Os this village and her
people wc have so often written
that there is hardly anything
new to be said. That they are
courteous, genial, hospitable, goes
for the saying. That they have a
glip on a good trade and are using
it to put there material interest
is shown by the improvement con
stantly going on. The high moral
and religious character of the com
i munity is fairly indicated by their
handsome churches, their prosper
ous school, and, above all, by the
genial good humor with which the} 7
pursue the even tenor of their way
without dash or jar between rival
interests. As to public spirit
among them, no better evidence of
that is wanting than the unani
mity with which they subscribe for
and fay for the Times.
At the Stone House we found

We are expecting hard times
this winter and next spring, for
four young men of our town mar
ried this year, and two or three oth
ers are expected to lead some of
Carroll’s fair daughters to the hys

out for a bad winter.
Farmers are late sowing small
grain in this section, on account of
cotton opening so late. Some of
our merchants want to employ a

seems to be our genial Tax collec

In Cincinnati! a sixteen-year-old
girl recently died after a fast of
fifty two days. She had been at
tacked by something like paralysis
which rendered it impossible for
her to take nourishment. The hu
man system cannot thrive without
good food and good ability to dis
gest it. Weak and impaired di
gestion is rectified b v Brown’s

What a terrible aiffiction about
the house is a cross, ctying baby!
A young man on the very edge of

Constipation
The removal of the waste por
tions of the body which have serv
ed their purpose, being absolutely
necessary to health, a failure to
remove them regularly causes
much suffering. The bowels
clogged become inactive, the Stom
ach overtaxed fails to digest, the
liver sympathizing loses its natural
activity, and Dyspepsia, Indiges
tion, Billiousness and Syck Head
ache, with all their miseries, come
following close behind. Since 18
40 there lias been no remedy found
so safe and effectual as the origi
nal Dr. M. Simmons’ Liver
Medicine?, which invigorates and
builds up the system, while it car
ries off the effete matter and re
moves the cause for disease.
If your hands cannot be usefully
employed, attend to the cultivation
of your mind.
A lady of our acquaintance has
been in quite feeble health for
many years—with some complaint
peculiar to the sex —became ema
ciated —lost her appetite —was
melancholy—sleepless—cross and
fretful. Many years’ suffering in
dicated that all medicines were a
failure. Some one suggested the
use of the Mexican Female Reme
dy, which could be applied locally.
Alter using two or three bottles an
astonishing change was observed,
and a complete cure was soon effee
ted.
Keep square with the world.

medicine are truly wonderful, as
