1e I^- Pay Yoir Dkhts. —Much money has been promised upon the strength of the present wheat crop. The crop is made and partially gathered, and an abundant one it is too —one that should call forth the gratitude of the nation’s heart to the Great Dispenser of Bless* ings. Now let ever}' honest debtor come forward and meet his obligations, in part if he cannot liquidate the whole of his indebtedness. By pay ing a part you will encourage your creditors to wait on you and give you time to make the money, and, at the same time, sup port your family, without the necessi ty of resorting to law. Remember! — Others arc depending upon you for the means to pay their debts. Your failure to meet your obligations disqualifies others for meeting theirs. This often engenders bitter feelings between deb tors and creditors, and brings about strife and contention hi ween the best of friends. It providence has blest you with the means, withhold it not from your confiding creditors ; but, if te the contrary, you have no means, continue to ma:iileß‘. your willingness and de termination t« pay by striving to make something with that end in view.— Never deny an honest debt, to do so is no belter than robbing your neighbor. Never think yourself released from a debt until you have satisfied your cred itor, either by liquidation or an honor able compromise, unjust laws to the contrary notwithstanding. The old firms of Howard, Stokely & Cos., and .1. A. &i «. Erwin, appeal to their old debtors to come forward and make, at least, part payment on their old claims., and save them the necessity and ) otirsell the humiliation ol being sued. Fun Ahead !—The Palace Saloon Ice Cream and Ladies’ Restaurant of Pease & Jack, Atlanta, Ga„, is one of the most superb and handsome institu tions in the Gate City. It is arranged with such taste and elegance that a lady ushered into it would imagine herself esconsced in a royal palace seated up on Hymens’ chair of bliss and being fed by the hands of Cupid and fanned by his golden wings. The gentlemen, too, nave something nice in store for them in an adjoining room where all the luxuries of the season are served up in the most provoking and enticing manner. Everything is exactly fitted up to meet the wants and suit the taste of both sexes. This is, by far the most fashionable and popular chcbang we have stumbled upon in all our rounds. The beauty of it is one can spend as much or as little money as he pleases, and yit be greatly benefitted by a visit. Wc came very near receiving a vast benefit but missed ix by not having our schedule to correspond with that of the rail r road. Let everybody and their wives and sweethearts drop in at the Palace Saloon of Pease Jack when they visit Atlanta. Them’s our senti incuts. During the.war almost all the crock cry, glassware and table cutlery in the land was destroyed and lost, and since the war the people have been unable to replenish their slock, and conse quently, old forks with one prong and knives with no handles, tin and blue edged plates and cups and saucers, anil other delph to correspond, have been almost universally used. But the pros pect for a little money from the sales of wheat being flattering, we would no tify our readers that Mr. T. R. Ripley, of Atlanta, has a large and assorted stock of Crockery and China on hand, which he is offering to sell cheap for cash. Here is a chance to replenish your stock, in any quantity or quality. See advertisement. WHEAT WANTED IN EXCHANGE FOR BUGGIES AND CARRIAGES, BY R. H. JONES, Cartersville, Ga. He wants wheat and he wants it bad euough to give farmers a better trade and bigger bargains in exchange for Buggies and Carriages, than any one at a distance can afford to do. He is an adept at the business and defies any man to put up a better vehicle for less money than he does. Hundreds ofliving witnesses, in our very midst, can and will testify that Jones’ bug gies and carriages are inferior to none. We have tried them ar.d know where of we assert. Do thou likewise. IffiA bountiful wheat harvest is being gathered, this season, anil lovers, with propri ety. can renew their suits; either with the lair sex or at Loewenstein & Pteifer’s Stoke. DeGolia says . “I have used the “twisted.loop” stitch for seven years and have had nine to sew tor ; yet I have never known a scam to -rip —nor has the machine been out of order. I'he \\ ii.oi Gibbs is be>* \ew Thresher and Separator. The new thresher of Mess-s. Gibbons <Sr Rucliman was tested at Mr VV. P. Milam's on Wednesday last in the prcsenio of Dr. W. W. Leak and others, who witnessed its oppe rations and pronounced it to be a decided suc cess. It is the first machine that has ever been in this section that would thresh the grain e’ean and separate at the same time, the grain from the chaff without wasting the wheat, which it does to admiration. It is thought that in threshing a crop of a thousand bushels there will not be the loss of a single bushel left in the straw and chaff. 'Phis saving of Wheat is equal, or more than equal, to the whole amount of TOLL charged for Threshing, and we sincerely wish we had a dozen or two of these MACHINES now to get out the present crop of wheat—and have no doubt our enterpr'zing citizens will have them next year in generel USE. It is not certain that this MACHINE will get out the grain much faster than our old ones, but the great idea is to take it all out and not waste it as heretofore. “I AM GOING HOME,” These were the last words of our dear friend, Mrs. Nancy M. Wofford, mother of General W. T. Wofford, who departed this life June 3, 1867, aged 76 years. Only a few hours before her death when questioned by a friend as to how she fist; she replied not only with Christion resignation, but witli happy anticipations of future blessed ness, illuminating her countenance, “I am going home.” With what sweet emotions of tenderness did she welcome the voice of her Heavenly Father calling her home. For 40 years, she was a member of the Bap tist Church. fSlio evinced a childlike faith in ti e merits and atonements of our Saviour, and ‘like Mary was delighted when sitting at His feet. Early in life, she was bereft of the partner of bv the cold hand of Death, and she, too, being left a widow, with three small child ren, two daughters and a son. Yet she ever manifested a Christian Resignation to tie Providential di pensations of the Almighty. Hers, in many respects, was a much induring life; but faith in Goo sustaii.e.) her, and when the Soldier Son was twice rest rvl to her em brace, adoring gratitude for his preservation ruled her heart. A distinguishing feature of her character, was devotion to her former slaves. Only four days before her sicknsss-shc walked two miles to administer to their comforts, adding ns was her wont, such instruction as flows from the anxious Christian heart. To them, and to all, her noble life, her peaceful death speaks to us. 01 may we with the same charity and earnest purpose of heart, wear the mantle of Love and usefulness for the elevation of others. To that absent Daughter who was not per mitted to secure that last fond look of love; that token ofaffection, we hid thee be of good cheer; thy mother rests in Heaven. Let this thought he an incentive to press on iri that straight but narrow way that you, too, may be a sharer of that everlasting blessedness. May that 8011, who so noldy administered to her wants in her declining years, who watched with loving tenderness, at the bed-side of death, find solace in the thought that “sho has gone to that home where no more trials await her; hut where all is Love. Bhe is not dead, hut has exchanged the dust, toil and strife of the army on earth, for the glory and triumph of the army in Heaven.” May her children and lo’ ed ones, and large circle of friends., meet with her “to part no more.” H.
