Mr Hamlin, of this Company, v< as

others. From this, mainlv, conies the
fine quality of tone peculiar to the

great success of this company is doubt
less owing, also, in good measure, to
their rigid adh ;ronce to certain prin

inferior work at any price, or suffer a
poor instrument to leave their factory;
and they sell id wavs at least remuner

Caution the public concerning bur
glars. Last night my Drug Store and
Mr. Boliannan’s Shoe Shop were enter
ed, by burglars, »»ml rifled considera
bly; and, as Josh Billings would say,
“torn; so" us they appropriated all the
Chloroform I had. I think they have
other and more serious motives in view.
My loss will probably exceed fifty dol
lars. Ten bmglaiw, only, took some
of my cost ly Drugs, leaving on the same
shelf articles of less value. So in Mr.
Boliannan’s apartment. He took their
onlyvalnble articles. Be not sur

The office of the stomach is to convert the
food into a creatn-like situi-fluid, called
chyme, litis is efleted partly by the action
ot a solvent, called the gastric juice, which
exudes from the coating o the stomach, and
P rfly by a mechanical movement if ,hat or
gan, w leb churns, as it were, the dissolving
aliment. The Chyme passes from the stom
ach in o the duodenum, or entrance to the
bowels, where it is subjected to the action
of the bile, and tbe nutritious portion of it
converted into a fluid called Chyle, which e
vetttually becomes blood.
New, it is evident tb&t if the great solvent,
the gastric juice, is not produced in suffici
ent quantity, or it the mechanical action of
the stoinacn is not sufficiently brisk, the first
profits’ oj digestion will be but imperfectly
pe: formed. It is also clear that if the Liver,
w hich plays such at) important part in chang
ing the nourishing portion of the chyme in
to the material of the blood, is congested, or
in any unnatural c ndition, the second pro
cess will be thoroughly accomplished. The
