Bg&teMiUonian Tableaux opens at
the Male Academy, in rear of the Pres-
Lyteiviu Cbtftvi., ikvi iy and Saturday
Lights.
In apc.iki* g of this exhibition the
Atlanta Env sayt.: “Large crowds have
been going to Davis' Theatre to witness
the exhibition of the Grand Miltonian
Tableaux. Those who have never seen
these paintings can have a very meagre
conception of their beauty and grand
eur. The artist seems to have caught
the poet's afflatus and transfered to
canvass the exact idea which in its
beautiful grandeur produced ‘Paradise.
Lost.’ Miltonian scholars will find the
pictures in every case to come up to
liia idea of the poetic conception, while
many cf them throw an altogether new
and more beautiful light upon the
‘grand old epic.’ No one, no matter
liow well versed he may be in Milton
can look upon and study these pictures
without having his understanding of
the poem enlarged and anew and hap
pier interest in it is created. It pro
duces before the eye a representative
—almost a personation—of what only
existed as a mental picture before—
The poem becomes more real—more
intelligible—as more readily under
stood .and is arrayed in beauties that
were not perceived before.
Col. Robt. If. Rowland, yonngest
child and son of the late Maj. John S. Row
land, of this county deceased, departed this
life, at the old Homestead, near this place
on Thursday evening, the 25’h of Novem
ber ; his funeral was preached by Key. J.
G. Ry»ls, and hi& remains were buried by
the side of his father and mother, in the
family burying ground, on Friday evening
following. But three short weeks had pass
ed off siqce his mother was called hence,
and now, though young, bouyant and vigor
ous, her darling, idol son, has been called
to follow in her footsteps, leaving behind, to
mourn his untimely departure, his young,
pious and devoted wife and infant babe.—
May the good Lord be a husband to them.—
Amen.

want of medical treatment. Send to
