Whoever is debarred by circumstances from unrestricted access to’ this invisible, but powori.j fLn.uU.nt, needs a m'dicioal iuvig. i orant of some kind. The great object should be to choose the best, Popularity is a pretty good guarantee of merit in this scrutinizing and intelligent nge. and tried by this critc° rion Ilostotter’s Stomach Bitters stands first , among the invigorating and regulating med j icine9 of the present day. To the wants of | persons engaged in indoor employments, especially in crowded factories where even with the best possible ventilation the atmos phere is always in some degree polluted, this salubrious vegetable tonic is peculiarly adapted. The nature of the ingredients is | no mystery. It consists of an absolutely pure diffusive stimulant, tinctured—or rather surcharged--with the fluid extracts of sana tious roots and barks and herbs, The pharmacopteia has its tinctures, but what are *hey? The juice of only a silge root or bark or plant is present in each. Not one of them combines the three properties of a tonic, an alterative, and an aperient. All these elements are blended in the Bitters; nor are these the sum of its medicinal recom mendations. It is also a blood depurent aud an antispasmodic, The baleful effect which air that has been partially exhausted of its oxygen by frequent breathing it produces on the vital organiza tion, is notorious, and when to this devital ized atmosphere is superadded the mephitic j vapor of hot air furnaces, it becomes deleto j rious and depressing in the extreme. To J enable the system to bear up, even for a few ; hours each day against the debilitating in fluence of a vitiated atmosphere, a wholesome tonic and alterative is urgently required. This grand disideratum is supplied in Hos tetler's Bitters, which as a strength-sustain ing, health-protecting agent has no rival either among officinal or advertised medi cines. The Place to Buy Crockery.—Wo have long thought that Messrs. Mc- Bride & Cos., had one of the handsom est stores especially internally, to be found in the city of Atlanta. One almost imagines himself in a fairy pal ace ns he surveys the beautifully ar ranged shelves of china, glass, porce lain, granite and silver plated ware which gives such an air of beauty to the place. But attractive as is the stock, the propictors would prefer to exchange it for greenbacks—and they are -‘mighty right.” Then we say to one and all, in town and country, if anything is wanted in the crockery line go to Mcßride & Co.’s store. Theres n-e, had the former State wrought up all the staple of the latter, she would have realized $144,900,000. Deducting the cost of the raw materi al, we have left a gross profit of $105,- 900,000. But this cotton was mauu | factured somewhere, if not in Mussa i ehusetts; and paid to those who did |so ne.s--.rly three times what it did to i the producers. Is it not incredi ble? A ratio of G3 to 1! These are only samples of the man ner in winch the South squandeied her resources. Let us penetrate deeper. Mississippi, which whs the eleventh State in number of swine, imported her pork; blessed with the sunniest skies, the balmiest breezes, a most fer-! tile she bought her bread stuff; queen of the cotton world, she import- j ed her cotton goods. Although only | live States surpassed Virginia in sheep I raising, ten eclipsed her in woolen j manufacture —and Virginia imported woolen goods. Her popu lition of 700,009 souls must be fed on , purchased meats, must be clad in pur ! chased garments; her plantations must bo worked with implements, every one of which were made abroad, (she did not make live thousand dollars worth.)
