We And the fcUvwiug description of the new Hon ate Chamber given by a correspondent of the New York iJamid : TMK JtISW IIAM- The general aspect of the new hall is light and graceful. In shape and dimensions it is similar to tbo new Hall of Representatives, but to the eye appears more finely proportioned. The style Had •haraetev of decoration are ueerly the same in both houses, except that in the Senate the tone of Color is touch more subdued. The area of the floor is 80 feet by 48 feet, and of the roof 1 12 by MU fact, the difference being occupied by a contin nous gallery around the lour sides us the apart ment, and capable of seating 1,200 persons. The inner roof or ootling, of iron, is flat, with deep piuiahr, twenty-one of which arc fitted with ground glass, having in the centre of each pane a colored um*<iallion representing the printing press, steam engine, cornucopia, and other symbols of progress and plenty. The light is supplied wholly through this window in the roof, and the effect is good- a flood of light falling on the reverend signors on the floor, while the galleries remain in half shad ow. Tin* gas apparatus is placed above the ceil ing, so that the light streaming through the panes may seem like a softened effect of sunlight. The ceiling is thirty five feet from the floor, but pre sents an appearance of greater attitude. If is encrusted with floral and other cinhoUishniont* in high relief, and all of iron. The floor of the • hainber is covered with 1,700 yards of ta|>Htry carpeting, having a large pattern of flowers on a purple ground. Its effect is not unplcaaing. Had time permitted a carpet would have been manu factured of color ami design to harmonise- a*, for insUUK'u, of red stars on a buff ground. The Vice President's desk is a modest table, of mahog any, os unlike as possible to the marble bar on which Ihe honorable Speaker pound*. The places of Senator* are arranged in three rows. The spectators’ galleries arc upholstered in drab dumask, rather too blue in tone for good effect. Ample accommodation w supplied, even to the extent of a ladies’ robing room. Access to the galleries is obtained through doors of maple, in laid with bronze. The gallery net apart for the pres* is fitted with dunks for about twenty parsons, and it is understood that no one will lie |rt>nutfted within it unless specially accredited by the Viee President. Thick ok a Law ran.—Mr. Charles Breton Ijeslie is a lawyer in Wall street, New York, aud sports a shingle with all its flourishes. Mr. Let lit* was employed by David Majoe to defend a suit | brought by Laura A. Curtis, who, a* her counsel, bud employed Abbott Brother*. The Time* *ay* : The retired young counsel, anxious to make a good case for his client, thought the best way to achieve this end was to poHHcK* himself of all the point* oil the opposite side. He eofled on Miss Curtis at her residence in Brooklyn, representing himself as one of the Abbott Brothers, and receiv ed u full ami confidential Hlatement of their side of the ease, telling Miss G. that he wished to pre pare mi affidavit for her to sign. Informing Miss C. that he would send for her when he had pre pared the affidavit, he politely touching l.is bat, waivod uu adieu, and retraced bis steps to his Wall street office, with the mammoth sign in front. Thu imposition was discovered yesterday, and Charles Breton Leslie, sq., was arrested and taken before Juutise Osborne, of the Lower Police Court.
