OftJHl dtf Scrofula, or King’s Evil, i a constitutional (liscadu, a corruption of the blood, bv which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak, tuid poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades tho whole body, and muy burst out in dueuMi on any part of it. No organ i free Irom its uttacks, nor ia tlicre one which it mny not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously caused by mercurial dUeaee, low living, dis ordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, tho depressing vices, and, above all, by tho venereal infection. Whutl ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the con stitution, descending “ from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation indeed, it scents to be the rod of Him who says, “ I will visit tho iniquities of the fathom upon their children,” Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tubercles; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul cor ruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of hie, so that scrofulous constitu tions not only suffer from scrofulous com plaint*, but they have far less power to with stand the attacks of other diseases; conse quently, vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in tnoir nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in tho system. Most of the consumption which de cimates tho human family hits its origin directly m tins scrofulous contamination ; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people arc scrofulous; their persons are invaded by this lurking in fection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it front tire system wo must renovate the Wood by an alterative medicine, and in vigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such u medicine we supply iu AYER’S Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times cau devise for this every when- prevailing ami fatal malady. It is com bined from the most active remedial* that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed for the cure of not only scrofula, but also those other affec tions which arise from it, such as F.huvtivk and Skin Diskames, Hr. Anthony's Fine, R‘sr, or Euysipmias. Pjmplhh, Fustvi.es, Rum ties, Hl.unh and Boils, Tcmoils, Tkttkk and Halt lliiii m, Scvld Head, Ringworm, Rheumatism, SvPMaimand Mercurial Dis eases, Duovxy, Dyspepsia, Dkiiility, and, indeed, am. Complaints .uusinu from Vitia ted or IMprrur Blood. The popular belief in “ impurity of the blood ” is founded in truth, for scrofula is u degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapa rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in con taiuin a toil constitutions. Ayer’s Cathartic Pills, FOR AU THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIC, are so composed that disease within the range of their action can rarely withstand or evade them Their penetrating prnpertieH search, ami cleanse, aiul invigorate every portion of the human organ ism, correcting its diseased urtion, and restoring its healthy vitalities. Asa eon sequence of these properties, the invalid who is bowed down xvith pain or physical debility is astonished to find his health or energy restored by a remedy at once so bimjde and inviting. Not oulv do they cure the every-dnv complaints of every body, but also many formidable and dangerous diseases. The ogent below named is pleased to furnish gratis tin American Almanac, containing certificates of their cures and directions for their use in the following complaints: C'oMiite itrss. When once tried, its superiority over every other medicine of its kind is too apparent to escape 1 observation, and where its virtue* are known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ I for the distressing and dangerous affections us tho [ pulmonary organ* that are incident to our climate. ! While many inferior remedies thrust upon the community have failed and been discarded, this has gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the afflicted they can never forget, and pro duced cures too numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten.
