Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole bodv, nnd may burst out in disease on any part of it. No organ H tree from it** attacks, nor is there one which it may not destroy. Tho scrofulous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low living, dis ordered or unhealthy food, impure* air, tilth and filthy habits the depressing vices, and, above all, by the veil ureal infection. What ever be its origin, it is hereditary in tho con btitution, descending “ from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation indeed, it seems to be the rod of Him who say, “ I will visit the iniquities of tho father* upon their children.’* Its effects commence hy deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organa, ia termed tubercles; in the glands, swellings j and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul cor ruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, ao that scrofulous constitu tions not only suffer from scrofulous com plaints, but thev^^v v far lees power to with stand the attacSs of other diseases; conse quently, vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Moat of the consumption which de cimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, fcfam. and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous; their persona are invaded bv this lurking in fection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from tlie system we must renovate the blood by an alterativo medicine, and in vigorate it* by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine wc supply in AYER’S Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla. the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this every where prevailing and fatal malady. It is com bined from the most active remedial# that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from . its destructive consequence#. I*l eiu.*o it should be employed for the cure of not only scrofula, but also those other office, tirms which arise from it, such as Eruptive and Sktx Disease*, Bt. AxnroicY’* Fire, Robb, or Ebysipslas, Pimplvi, Pustules, Hlotcheh, Blairs and Boils, Tumors, Titter and Salt Jlhf.um, St.u.d Head, Htrgworm, Hhkumatib*, HvpiuLiTicand Mercurial Dis eases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Debility, and, indeed, ali, Complaints arising from Vitia tso or Impure Blood. The popular belief in “ impurity of the blood ” is founded in truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapa rilla is to purify and regenerate tliis vital fluid, without which sound health it impossible in contaminated constitutions.
