Thou bust one heart ibut fom thee.
In tfafe dark world of oar®,
Whoa* gontJ* “® i,c *Pl> rov * and
Yield not to dark despair.
One little rone, whoso fragrant blossom,
Blooms but for theo alone ;
Ono fond, confiding bosom,
Whose lova is still Urine own.
One little, gent le star, to guide thee,
And bless thus on thy way,
That e'en when storms betide thee,
Still lends its gentle ray.
One little crystal fountain springing,
Within life's desert waste,
Whose waters still are bringing
Refreshment to thy taste.
One sweat, tuneful voice, to cheer thee,
When sorrow hath distresl,
One breast, when thou art w ary,
Where on thy head to rest.
Till that sweet little rose ia faded,
And cold that heart so wurtn.
Till oload* thy star have shaded,
Heed not the passing storm.
Till voices kind that bless thee,
All mute in (loath do lie,
And the fount that oft retrenhed thoa,
To tbee, is ever dry.
Thou bast still one tin to bind thee,
To this dark world of care {
Then, let not sorrow blind than-
Yield not to dark despair.

Death.—A* life approaches extinction, in non

the mind remains to the last, and where nervous

happy feeling on the approach of death “If I
had strength enough to hold a pen, I would write
how easy and delightful It It to die,” wore the last
words of the celebrated Wm. Hunter during hi*

Montaigne, in one of his essays, describe* an
accident which left him no senselc**, that he was
taken up for dead, fin being restored, however,
heaays t Met bought my life only bung upon my
lips : and I shot my eyes to help thrust It out,
and took a pleasure in languishing and letting
myself go. A writer in the Quarterly Kovicw re

from drowning declared that he had not experi

Stream was transparent, the day brilliant, and a*
he stood upright ho could see the sun whining
through the water, with a dreamy consciousness
that his eye* were about to bo closed on it forev- |

gratified him, made a luxurious bed of a watery
grave.”

any mishap to the present splendid crops, and if
the present high price continues.

upon the road from Buena Vista to Columbus,
7 tnilcH from Buena Vista, 26 miles from Colum

iu the midst of an excellent neighborhood aud
convenient to churches.
Persons who wish to buy Georgia lauds that
never fail to make a lair average crop of corn,
cotton and wheat, need look no farther than here,
for I am offering a decided bargain, and would
.Mill stock, com and every thing on the place ex
cept negroes, mules and wagons. 190 acres are
planted in cotton und 1 will sell for same quanti

amount of money my cotton crop sells for, in Co

Look out somebody for a speculation, for If I
fail to make a crop of cotton I get nothing for
my 500 acres of land. The cotton trade is open

Scroflila, or Kingr’s Evil,
ia a constitutional disease, n corruption of tke
blood, by which tliis fluid becomos vitiatod,
weak, and poor. Being in the circulation, it
pervades the whole body, and may burst out
in disease on any part of it. No organ is fro*-
from its attacks, nor is there one which it may
not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously
caused by mercurial disease, low living, dis
ordered or unhealthy food, impure air, tilth
and tilthy habits, the depressing vices, r.nd,
above all, by the venereal infection. What
ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the con
stitution, descending “ from parents to children
unto the third and fourth generation indeed,
it seems to be the rod of Him who says, 44 1
will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon
their children.”
Its effects commence hy
i/iwou or corrupt or ulcerous nutter, which, in
the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed
tubercles; in the glands, swellings; and on
the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul cor
ruption, which genders in the blood, depresses
the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitu
tions not only suffer from scrofulous com
plaints, but they have far less power to with
stand the attacks of other diseases; conse
quently, vast numbers perish by disorders
which, although not scrofulous in their nature,
arc still rendered fatal hy this taint in the
system. Most of the consumption which de
cimates the human family has its origin directly
in this scrofulous contamination ; and many
destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain,
and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from oi
are aggravated by the same cause.
One quarter of all our people are scrofulous,
their persons ure invaded by this lurking in
fection, and their health is undermined by it.
To cleanse it from the system wc must renovate
the blood by an alterative medicine, and in
vigorate it by healthy food and exercise.
Kueh a medicine we supply in
AYER’S
Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla
the most effectual remedy which the medical
skill of our times can devise for this every
where prevailing and fatal malady. It is com
bined from the most active remedials that have
been discovered for the expurgation of tins foul
disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the
system from its destructive consequences.
Hence it should be employed for the cure of
not only scrofula, but those other affec
tiona which arise from it, such as Earn-iva
and Bkin Diseases, Bt. Avmomr’ft FntE.
Rose, or Erysipelas, Pimples, Pustules,
Blotcheh, Blaiks and Boils, Tumobs, Tetter
and Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Kino worm.
Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mercurial Dis
eases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Debility, and,
indeed, all Complaints aJLikiMO prom Vitia
ted or Impure Blood. The popular belief
in “ impurity o f the blood ” is founded in truth,
for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The
particular purpose and virtue es this Sarsapa
rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid,
without which soiqjd health is impossible in
contaminated constitutions.
Ayer's Cathartic Pills,
FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIC.
are so composed that disease within the range of
their action can rarely withstand or evade them
Their penetrating properties search, and cleanse,
and invinr:jt* every portion of the human organ
lam, correcting ita diseased action, and restoring
its healthy vitalities. An a consequence of these
properties, the invalid who ia bowed down with
Gain or physical debility ia astonished to find his
ealth or energy restored by a remedy at once so
simple and inviting.
Not only do they cure the every-day complaints
of every body, but also many formidable and
dangerous diseases. The agent below named it,
pleased to fbrnish gratis my American Alrnana*
containing certificates of their cures and direction
for their use in the following cdhiplaints: Costii e
ntss. Heartburn, Headache arisingfrom disordered
Stomach, Nausea, Indigestion. Pam in and Morbid
Inaction of the Bowels, Flatulency, Loss of Appe
tite, Jaundice, and other kindred complaints,
arising from & low 6tate of the body or obstruction
of its functions.
Ayer's Cherry Pectoral,
for thb rapid cure of
Coughs G#lds, lnflupuzn, Hoarseness,
* Croup, flronchiti 4 *. Incipient Consump*
tkou, and for the relief of Consumptive
Patient* in advanced stages of the
disease.
So wide is the field of its usefulness and so nu
merous are the cases of its cures, that almost
every section of country abounds in persons pub
licly known, who have been restored from alarming
and even desperate diseases of the lungs by its
nee. When once tried, its superiority over every
other medicine of its kind is too apparent to escape
observation, and whtro its virtues arc known, tne
public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ
for the distressing and dangerous affections of the
pulmonary organs that are incident to our climate
While many inferior remedies threat upon the
community have failed and been discarded, this
has gamed friends by every trial, conferred benefits
on tne afflicted they can never forget, and pro
duced cures too numerous and too remarkable to
be forgotten.
