(Opinions of Attorney Generali, vol. Th* Judgment thus (pronounced has been cheerfully acquiesced ia by this Dojiart ment, And is now recognised as one of Uioguides of tie administration. The authority of Virgin ia te enact such a law rests upon that right of self preservation which belongs to every govern ment and people, and which has never been sur rendered, nor indeed can it he. One of the most solemn eonsiitutioaal obligations imposed on tho Federal Government is that es protecting the States against “InsnrreeUon” and domestio vio lence—of course, none of its Instrumentalities can be lawfully employed in lacking, even In the remotest degree, to this very crime, which in. volvm in us uratn nil otbsrs, and with the sup preasion of which it is specially charged. You must, under the responsibilities resting upon you as an officer and as a ellisen, determine whether tho beeks, pamphlets, newspapers, do., received by you for dlstnbutim, are of tfce incendiary character described in tlw statute; and ifyuu be lieve they aro, then you are not only aot obliged to deliver them te those to whom they aro ad dressed, but you are empowered eud required by yohr duty te the State of which you are a citisen, to dispose of them in strict conformity to the provisions of the law referred to. The people of Virginia may uotoaly forbid the intro duction and dissemination of such documents within their borders, but, if brought there lu the mails, they may, by appropriate legal proceed ing*, have them destroyed. They have the same right to extinguinli Are brands, thus impiously buried in to the midst of their homes and altars, that a mao has to plttok the burning fuse from a bombshell which is about to explode at bis feet. JBHN JOUNhON, •rdiwary Aug I. ludW-wSui Ayer’sSarsaparilla A compound remedy, in which We have la bored to produce tho most effectual alterative that can be made. It i* a concentrated extract of Para Sarsaparilla, so combined with other substances of still greater nlteradre power as to afford an effective antidote for th® diseases Sarsaparilla is reputed to cure. It i* bclim-ed that such a remedy i* wanted by those wjp suffer from Strumous complaints, and that <mu wliich will accomplish their cure must provo of immense wrvice to this large class of cur afflicted fellow-citizens. How completely tliia compound will do it has been proven by exper iment on many cf the worst cases to be found ot the fcilovring complaint*: ANI) hOROPULOCfI C'OWPLATNT*, Ektrmwsot AND Katrrrrv* Diseases, Ul< tus, Pimpia-, mtare&ks, Tumohs, Balt Riixt u, Scald Head, Syphilis and Byp>hiliixl’ Ar rtCTioifs, Merttrial Dtsbash, Phopst, Nkl ralcjia on Tic DorLwrußux, Dewittt, Dts- PEPWA AND iNDIOUHTtOX, ErTSIPSLAB, Ko ok Sr. Anthony’* Fire, and indeed the whola class of complaints arising from Imjmjiuty ot thy Blood. This compound will be found a grout pro mpter of health, w hen taken in the spring, to expel the foul humors which fester in the bicod at that season of tlx- year. By the time ly expulsion of them numy rankling disorders are nipped in the bud. Multitudes con, by the aid of tliia remedy, spare themselves from the endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerou* •ores, through which the system will strive to rid itself or corruptions, if* not assisted to do this through the natural channel* of the body by an alterative medicine. Cleanse out tlte vitiated blood whenever you find it* impurities bursting through the skin in pimples, eruptions, or sorch; dennse it when you find it is ob structed and sluggish in the veins ; cleanse it whenever it is foul, and your feelings wifl tell you when. Even where no particular dhiordcr is felt, people enjoy hotter health, ami live longer, for clcan&ing the blood. Keep tltc blood healthy, und all is well; but with this pabulum of life diaorriorotl tharo can be DO fasting health. Sooner or later something must go wrotwr, and the great machinery of li/e is disordered or overthrown. AND JEWELER, Sarsaparilla has, and deserves much, the reputation, of accomplishing these ends. But the world ha been egregionriy deceived by preparations of it, partly because the drug alone has not all the virtue that is claimed for it, but more because ninny preparations, pretending to be concentrated extract* of it, contain but little of tho virtue of Sarsaparilla, or any thing eke. During late years the public have been mis led by largo bottles, pretending to give a mi art of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dollar. Most of these have been frauds upon the sick, for they not only contain little, if any, Sarsapa rilla, Iwt often no curative properties whatev er. Hence, bitter and pnlnral disappointment has followed the ruse of the various extracts of Sarsfipnrilla which flood the market, until the name itself UJustly despised, and has become synonymous with imposition und cheat. Still we call tlus compound SampanHM, and intend to supply such a, rornr dy shall rescue tlte name from, tiiu load of ol.loquy which rest* upon it. And wo think we have ground for behaving it haa virtues which are irrcsistibl* by the ordinary run of the disease s it is intend ed to cure. In order to secure their complete crailicatinn from the system, the remedy should be judiciously taken according to directions on tho bottle. PREPARED BY OK. J. €. AVER A CO. lowf.il, Mass.
