MISCELLANEOUS.
The Amalgamation or Languages.— There
is a growing tendency in this age to appropriate
the most ex presaivo word* of other languages,
and uftor a while to incorporate thun into our
own; thug tho word Cephalic, which is from the
Greek, signifying ‘Tor tho head,” is now becom
ing popularized in connection with Mr. Spalding’s
great Headache remedy, but it will soon bo used
in a more gcnorul way, and tho word Cephalic
will become a* common as Electrotype and many
others whose distinction as foreign words has
been worn away by common usage until they

IIrADACfTH is the favorite sign by which nature
makes known tiny deviation whatever from the
natural state of tho brain, and viewed in this
light it inuy bo looked on as a safeguard intend
dod to givonotiuo of disooso which might other
tvise osoupe attention, till too late to bo remedied,
und its indications should never be neglected.—•
Headache tuay bo classified under two numes, vlk
Symptomatic und Idopathic. Symptomatic head
ache is exceedingly common and is tho precursor
of a great variety of disease, among which tire
Apoplexy, Rheumatism, Gout;and all febrilo dis
cuses. In its nervous form it is sympathethic.
of disetiso of tho stomach constituting sick head
ache, of hepatic disease constituting biliuut head
ache, of worms, constipation and other disorder*
of tho bowels, as well ns renal and uterine uffec
tious. Disease* of tho heart tiro very frequently
attended with headaches, Anmmiu und plethora
are also affections which frequently occasion
headache. Idiopathic Headache is also very com
mon, being usually distinguished by tho name of
nervoue headache, sometimes coming on sudden
ly in a state of apparently sounu health und
prostrating at onco tho mental and physical en
ergies, and in other instances it comes on slowly,
heralded by depression of spirits or acerbity of
temper. Iu most instances the pain is in front
of the head, ovor one or both eyes, and some
times provoking vomiting; uuder this class may
also be tunned Neuralgia.
For the treatment of either cl as a of Headache,
the Cephalic Fills have been found a sure and safe
remedy, relieving tho most acute pains in a lew
minutes, and by its subtle power eradicating the
disease of which Headache is the unerring indix.

Constipation or Costive Dm,
No ono of the “many il' flesh is heir to” is so
provalcn., eo little undursUiod, nni so much neg
lected as tostivcncKs. Often originating iu care
lessness, or sedentary habits; it in regarded ns a
slight disorder of too liitlo con-equence to excite
anxiety, while in reality it is the precursor and
companion of many of tho most fatal aud danger
ous diseases, and uulcss early eradicated it will
bring tho sufferer to an untimely grave. Among
the lighter evils of which costivcnesu is the usual
attendant, ttr: II cad ache, Colic, Rheumatism,
Foul Breath, Files and others of a like nature,
while a long train of frightful diseases, such as
Malignant Fevers, Abscesses. Dysentery, Diar
rhoea, Dyspepsia, Apoplexy, Epilepsy, Paralysis,
Hysteria, Hypuehondriatna, Melancholy and In
sanity first indicate their presence in the system
by this alarming symptom. Not unfrequently
the diseases named originate in Constipation, but
take on an independent existence unless theeause
is ©radicated in un early stage. From nil these
considerations it follows that the disorder should
receive immediate attention whenever i’ ocattrs,
and no person should neglect to get a box of Ce
phalic Pills on the first appearance of tho eoiu
plaint, as their timely U6O will expel tho insidi
ous approaches of disease and destroy ibis dan
gerous foo to human lifo.

Gkkat Discovery.— Among the most iuipur
tnnt of alltho medical discoveries of tho age may
bo considered the system of vaccination for pro

the relief of Headache, and the u.*o ol Quinine
for the prevention of I'cvcrs, either of which is a
sure specific, whose benefits will bo experienced
by suffering humanity long after their discover

Twenty Million* of Dollars saved.— Mr.
Spalding has sold two millions of bottles of his
celebrated prepared Glue and it is estimated that
oaoh bottle Haves at least ten dollars worth of bro
ken furniture, thus making an aggregate of twen
ty millions of dollars r cola lined from total loss
by this valuable invention. Having made this
Glue a household word, ho now proposes to do
the world still greater service by curing all the
aching heads with his Cephalic Dills, and if they
