On investigation it was found that several members of the fam ily wore poisoned—somo of them being quite sick. The proper remedies were applied at once and partial relief at least obtained. After a careful inquiry into all the facts, the physicians are of opinion that, t.ho poisoning insulted from the use of milk from a cow that had previously eaten Ihe lobelia plant, a' all the symptoms indicated the poi son of that plant. See “ad.” We are informed that Mrs. Jose phine Humphries, wife of Bud Hum phries, of this city, is lying very low from the effects of abuses received at tho bands of her husband. Wife whipping is brutish under any circum stances, but when it is taken into con sideration that Jits. Humphries has only been a mother about a month, the crime is made doubly h. inous. The matter should bo rigidly investigated at once. We hoar, for the last few days, a good dual of complaint of rust on the wheat. Up to this time it is confined principally to the blades, but in a few fields has appeared on tho stalk. Ten days ago the crop presented a splendid appearance, promising afmcyicld, but the attack of this blight at this oarly stage has produced quite a change in die outlook. If the weather should be favorable from this time forward the result may not be so disastrous as some aeom to apprehend. It is tho general opinion of farmers, we believe, that rust confined to the blade, whilst inju rious, is not necessarily fatal to the Our i x-devil gets off tho following, which should arrest the attention of th.e persons interested. Centennial Christian Homes., The great number of visitors in Phil adelphia, duriug the Centennial Exhi oition, necessitates the opening of pri vate homes for board and lodging. Many Christian families, who are un willing to open their doors to a prmis cuous public, have arranged a plan by which they give admission to Chris tians and their friends. This will be equally pleasant to Christian people abroad who may not wish to be asso ciated with the great variety of char acters brought together in hotels and public boarding-houses In order to have this select class the price of board is generally much lower than prevails by other arrangements, varying from 5 to § 12 a week, aud from Ito $2.50 per day.
