From Church Tidings:
A man once said that he could
live and die on poultry. He meant
that he could meat from
the bones of the fowls of the barn
yard and at the end die on the
feathers. How about ;the spiritual
life? Can a man sin all his life and
die in the same and Not
if we read the Book aright can such
a miracle take place. Eat of the
bread of life, and when you come to
the valley of the shadow your couch
will be‘ ‘flowery beds of ease”and the
guiding hand of the gentle. Holy
Saviour will pilot you safely across
to your heavenly home.
One of the greatest platform ora
tors of modern times, Geo. R.
Wendling, has a lecture on the Man
of Gallilee. He was was many years
preparing this lecture, and read 59
books on the life of Christ. One
day he picked up Bishop Haygood’s
marvelous book. The Man of Galli
lee, and read it through. It wa§ a
revelation, and he at once rewrote
the lecture and named it after it ,
and has delivered it many hundred
time all over this land. This simple
story of The Man of Gallilee by our
own late Georgia Bishop is a classic
and ranks among the books that
will live on down the centuries.
Read it.
One of the pupils of Socrates once
asked his great teacher, what is the
most necesary thing for a man to
know. The wise man replied,
“Himself.” Are you thoroughly
acquainted with your own person
ality? Do you know yourself and
can give full account of your expe
rience in things of the mind, body
and soul? If you have not this ac
quaintance then the first duty owe
yourself is to study your own per
sonality, and if there is a fault, cor
rect it. And remember, “Study to
show thyself approved of God,
rightly dividing the word of truth.”
It is interesting to study the life
of thejapostle Paul asfa gentleman.
He was the prince of gentlemen.
Even when fin chains and beaten
with stripes he was the same com
posed, even tempered and polite
man that he always was. The se
cret was, he was a true Christian.
The love of God in the heart makes
a man the true gentleman.
The greatest compliment you can
pay to any man is to call him a
Christian Gentleman. Each word
by itself is a noble one and a great
compliment, but combine the two
and there is no greater in this world.
Men and boys, let the world know
that these two are combined in your
character.

A New Back for an Old One—How a
Gainesville Resident Made a
Bad Back Strong.
The back aches at times with a
dull, indescribable feeling, making
you weary and restless; piercing
pains shoot across the region of the
kidneys, and again the loins are so
lame that to stoop is agony. No use
to rub or apply a plaster to the back
if the kidneys are weak. You can
not reach the cause. Follow the
example of this Gainesville citizen.
Mrs. R. E.Strickland,ll7 W. Broad
St., Gainesville, Ga., says: “I had
been annoyed for a long time by a
pain in my back and symptoms of
kidney complaint. When I saw
Doan's Kidney Pills so highly

He Cares
Yes, He cares, and the Heavenly
Father who takes note of even the
falling of a sparrow to the ground is
not indifferent to those who are of
‘‘more value than many sparrows.”
It is difficult for us to realize that
God is concerned about little things,
but our failure to appreciate this is
due to human limitation. Greatness
is as much exemplified in the infini
testimal as in the big things. How
much worry would be avoided if
people only grasped the thought of
God s overruling providence even in
the petty trials and small details of
life. Praise His name, He cares!

Easter
The pivotal day approaches. Mil
lions of Christians have been giving
themselves to self-denial, prayer,
repentance and confession.
How many professing Christians
fail to realize the Soul’s absolute
need of a sacrifice. No abstaining
nor fasting nor almsgiving, visiting
the sick, poor or prisoner.
David was doubtless zealous in all
these outward marks of true religion.
Are you thus careful and constant,
fellow Christian?
Yet even the Shepherd King in
his great sorrow found there was
something higher even, and he ex
claimed: “The sacrifices of God
are a broken spirit; a broken and
contrite heart, () God, Thou wilt
not despise.” Here the soul always
meets God who sacrificed His only
Son, and is folded to His bosom.
