Minneapolis is a city where they

Minutes of the regular meeting of
March 12th. 1914, read and con
firmed.
The following ordinance was read
the first time, rules suspended, read
the second time and adopted:
An ordinance prohibiting itinerant
venders, hawkers, auctioneers, ped
dlers and any and all persons from
conducting or carrying on in the
streets, sidewalks, parks or public
places in the city of Gainesville, ti e
business of vending, hawking, ped
dling, or auctioneering or othewise
selling any wares, merchandise,
drugs, medicines, furniture, kitchen
untensils, crockery, cutlery, musical
instruments, jewelry and any and
all kinds of goods, wares, merchan
dise and any other article or articles
other than agricultural products,
and for other purpose.
Sec. 1. That from and after the
passage of this ordinance it shall be
unlawful for any person or persons,
or for any itinerant vender, peddler,
hawker, or auctioneer or other per
sons to otter for sale, in the streets,
parks or other public places in the
city of Gainesville, any wares, mer
chandise, drugs, medicines, furni
ture, kitchen utensils, musical in
struments, jewelry, or any other
kinds of goods, wares or merchan
dise, provided that this ordinance
shall not prohibit the sale of
products of farmers or their agents.
Sec. 2. Be it further ordained
that any person violating the pro
visions of this ordinance, upon con
viction thereof, shall be punished
as piovided in section 68 of the
code.
Sec. 3. Be it further ordained
thatall ordinances and parts of or
dinances in conflict with this ordi
nance be, and the same are hereby,
repealed.
The following resolution was read
referred:
Whereas the Honorable Board of
Commissioners of Roads and Reven®
ues of Hall County have expressed
an intention to dedicate for certain
purposes and upon certain condi
tions, the circle upon which is lo
cated the Confederate Monument in
the square of the city of Gainesville,
and,
Whereas the conditions imposed
by said Board of County Commis
sioners is such as to require the
policing and removing garbage
therefrom and the protection of the
trees, hedge, shrubbery, grass,
flowers and monuments from dam
age or injury therefore,
Be it resolved by the Mayor and
Council of the city of Gainesville in
regular session assembled, that said
city take such steps as its officers
may deem fit and proper to comply
with the conditions as prescribed by
the Board of Roads and Revenues
of Hall County.
The water and light committee
made a report on matter of laying
main along Park street, east of Prior,
recommending that arrangements
be made toward furnishing water
along said street. This matter was
again referred to the water and
light committee with power to act.

Jas. H. White.
The Mayor was authorized to pay
the Atlanta Bitulithic Co., $644.09,
the amount in hand for paving.
No further business the Council

Ships Boy Waybilled “One Hog,

boy crated and shipped as live stock,
to gain a low freight rate on house
hold goods, was the discovery made
by a veterinary here when he was
called upon to inspect a carload of
goods billed from Bertrand, Nebr.,
to Burke, S. Dak. The waybill on
the shipment included household
goods and “one hog, value released
at $lO. ” Being an interstate shipment,
inspection was required. A search
revealed a boy curled up in a corner
of the car, none the worse for the trip.
