Col. Wheeler Nominated For Judgeship. From Buford Journal; In the Hall county primary held Friday, April 10, Col. A. C. Wheeler of Gainesville proved an easy win ner of the nomination for Judge of the City Court of Hall County, over his opponent, Col. W. S. Pickrell, Col. Wheeler having received a ma jority vote of 1070 in the county. The fact that Col. Pickrell is known throughout the county as a lawyer of unquestioned ability and enjoys the friendship and esteem of almost the entire people adds laurels to Col. Wheeler’s victory and pro claims more eloquently than words the enviable position attained by this popular and rapidly rising young at torney in the hearts and minds of the people of his home county. As is well known, Col. Wheeler i was born and reared on a farm in J Roberts’ district, Hall county, with- ■ in about four miles of Buford and has j hundreds of friends throughout this ! section who heartily extend congrat- ; ulations and best wishes. Os the 58 i votes cast in Roberts district Friday April 10 not one was against Col. Wheeler or Mr. R. W. Smith, who is another Roberts district boy and was re-elected for Clerk of the Su perior Court which shows how the people of that district line up when it comes to an endorsement of her own worthy sons. my J MM) A.-; A; \ ■ XX ■■ ■A*S a ’*’**\ . \ < \ hU - ■ ' ' \ ■ v v A 1 ~'V" r < ’ <X?' jraangJ 4Bdl Ek- - • - \ Efc 'x' J',,.- •jirA-:- ■ : i A x*****^jCj^■'\ ' ■ >;UA ; GREAT FLYINS Min EXHIBITION In Two Flights ll:00 a. m., 3:30 p. m Aviator Beech, who will come here with his big air-conquering Machine, is already world famous, having at one time held the altitude record. There will be held a mock election on National Constitutional Prohibi tion. There will be music, grab bags for the children and other in teresting features. All are invited. Admission five and ten cents. I It is our desire, through these ; medal contests, to so interest the • young people in this the greatest I reform purpose of the age, that they may help enlist the older ones who seem unmindful of this need of re form. In other words, want them to help create public sentiment. • The medal contest means agita i tion and education. Said Lincoln: i “With public sentiment nothing can ; fail; without it nothing can succeed.” Would that we women of the local ! Temperance Union could have a ■ vision and be moved by a mighty I purpose, as were Francis W'llard, Florence Nightingale and others, a ; purpose worthy of women who are j worthy to live forever! “If me think things cannot be different from what they are, we I but add so much to the dead inertia j of the world which keeps them as | they are.” Lost Pig.
