War in the old countries doesn't seem to affect Riverside Military Academy and Brenau College-C-n --servatory—they—they have a tu 1 attend ■ auce for this year, especially Rue side, where they are said to be hangingout the windows. It is possible that Prof. Pearce s offer of taking warehouse receipts on cotton aS the -equivalent of cash in payment of tuition, had much to do with the heavy attendance. But both colleges are full, which shows that the South is still on the map. Perhaps no greater crowds of stu dents were ever seen on the streets of Gainesville than were seen at tending the various Sunday School, last Sunday morning, and also at church at the 11 o’clock services at the churches. The Episcopal church was tilled to its fullest seatingcapacity at bo i services, as was the Methodist, Bap tist and Presbyterian churches. Gainesville has not and could not have greater drawing cards than Brenau and Riverside. The management has done exten sive advertising in the leading daily papers and magazines of the United States, and while advertising he schools, Gainesville is also being advertised. Spent Week in Atlanta. Rev. and Mrs. H. W. McArthor spent last week in Atlanta, guests Rev. McArthor’s sister, and other relatives. They returned to the city Saturday evening. Revival Closed Sunday. The revival that had been in pt og ress for the past few days at St. Paul closed Sunday night. Much good was accomplished during this meeting, and many new members -were added to the church roll. Mr. Moore Able to be Out. It is gratifying indeed to the many friends of Mr. T. T. Moore to know that he was able to be out SuzJ day afternoon for a while on the street, after his recent severe illness from an automobile accident. Mr. Moore was wheeled down as far as his store, near the Southern depot, Sunday afternoon in his rol ling chair, and seemed to enjoy the .fresh air immensely* * ———— — At The First Methodist. The program as arranged for the First Methodist Sunday School for next Sunday promises to be inter esting. Thirteen little folks will receive their diplomas from the Be gioners' department, while another class will be promoted from the Junior Department. Next Sunday will also be “Rally Day,” and “Work Day’’ for the orphans' home at Decatur. This Sunday School has grown rapidly in the past years, and now liras something like 500 enrolled in .the school, under the efficient man agement of Mr. Hammond Johnson as superintendent. i Winder's Great Fair.
