He was careful in the training of liis family, aid lias left an example Worthy of being followed by his race. If all were like “Uncle” Muniford, our country would prosper mere. Death op A.'lluni.y, Esq— Death lias again invaded our community and taken from us one of our most esteemed citizens, Mr. Ambrose Ilun ly, who died of paralysis, at liis resi dence, on the 21st, aged 07 years. No one who knew Mr. 11. well but will drop a tear upon hearing of his his death. The event has produced a saddening effect on our town. The deceased had been a resident of Harris county 86 years, and by his honesty and integrity, perseverance and energy', and close attention to business, succeeded in rising above the adversities of life. In the year 1854 he joined the M. E. Church, South, and has ever borne an unblemished character, lie leaves a family and a large num ber of friends to mourn his loss. Watt & Walker keep Silver Lake flour. Almost a Fire. —During the ab sence at breakfast, last Tuesday, of Mr. I.igon, who clerks at the store of Messrs. Cowsert & Fitts, a stick of wood rolled otit of llie fireplace, and when Luke returned, he found the room full of smoke, and the floor on tire. It was soon put out. A little later, and the house could not have been saved, as a hole was burnt in the floor, and a coal had dropped into the cellar, amongst some rubbish. 48*5“ Our notice of the death of Mr. Dillingslea, last week, was a mistake. NVe resurrect him with pleasure, and hope his “days maybe long in the land.” A negro of that name had died, and we suppose this caused our informant to make the mistake. The Good Templars held a meeting last Friday night, and three gentlemen of this town were admitted to membership. This should be an encouragement to others to do the same.
