That night there .were heavy and continuous rains, with glmqst incessant lightning. It rained BOine juegday and Wednesday, apd heayijy yesterday afternoon and last night. We had a shower this morn jpg, but it cleared off about 9 o’clock. It pame p.ut, howevpr, this morning. The water-house at Johnson’s mill, on Mujberry Creek, three miles from town, was washed away. It fortu nately came to pieces before reach ing the bridge, or the latter would have fyepn carried away also. We have heard of no further dam age being done in this vicinjty. Bad Accident. —Last Friday even ing, as Mr. John D. Johnson’s wagon, hy si x mules, and loaded with corn, on the back from West Bqilft, was crossing Gammell’s bridge, <jver Flat Shoals creek, about six miles from West Point, three of the sleepers gave way, and jthe wagon and wheel mules fell through. The forward mules had got so far across as to escape. The driver, who was riding one of the niules, wonderful to say, escaped unhurt. A negro who was in the wagon fell through with the load, jmd liad his leg hurt so badly ' that it had Jo fee amputated. His recovery is doubtful.
