Fried Bread. —Put into a eem
mon biscuit pan, a heaping teaspoon
ful of butter, and let it melt and
spread over the pan; then take
enough slices of bread (stale answers
as well as any) to cover the bottom
of the pan, and make a mixture to
dip them in by beating well two eggs,
and pouring in milk enough to sour
the bread; season it with a very little
pepper and sali; make the bread quite
moist; theu lay it on the butter and
fry brown one side, and if too soft
to turn, pnt them into the oven to

Preserving 11am«.—Take good
strong domestic, make sacks large
enough to coutain the hams aud put
them in the sacks; pack sweet well
cured hay firmly around the hams,
(I think prairie hay or some fino
grass preferable) and they will keep
five years. The sumo sacks will last
for several years. Insects will not
infect them; while the hay will impart
a nice flavor to the hams.
Cure for Cold in the Head.—
Inhale hartshorn through the nostrils
six or eight times a minute until
relief is obtained. Then after an
hour or so repeat again. This rem
edy is much used in Frauce, and I
have always found the use of it a'tend
ed with good results.
