Editor Herald :—Dear Sir, A j
few dots from this locality. No- j
cross lias undergene no very great i
change since I wrote last. The i
town is in a prosperous condition ]
as far as I know, notwithstanding j
tlie trade is dull at present. The '
cotton is about consumed a-'d now
is the time for the guano trade.— j
lhe farmers are not doing auv
thing much at present, the weath- j
er has been so bad they cant do j
Anything. The oat crop in this ]
section is seriously injured by the
cold weather, that is the fall sow
ing, and the wheat it is feared is
also injured. The farmers should j
sow a ipiantity of oats this spring j
us they couie oil in a very good j
lime.
Our schools are getting aloag;
finely. 1 notice in jour Ust issue
that the R-.ctor of the G*., S. L.
S. A A., replied to my statement \
in regard to the number of at it- |
dents til his seliool. I will say to,
ihe Rector that it was an error of
ihe bead and not of tba heait. 1
was informed by one of the *chol
lai's of lue school that he only hid
fifty at that time. If he will think
bai kto the 11th of Jan. (.the time
I w:ote) he will say that I was not
badly mistaken. The students cow j
numbers nearly a hundred us he
staged, but I am caadid about the ,
stati-meai I made. The schools ,
are in a prosperous condition, aud j
1 think great good will be done
in this community this year in the i
educational liue. Both iuetitu- j
tions are well suppled with teach
era and there ie reaeon to believe
that there will be much good done
if sehollars aud teaehers will do
their daty- School-days are eai 1
to be the happiest days we have,
aud at this ead ( would say to the
sehollars who may read this to im
“prova their tioie well The school
days Mav soem dull at presto t,but
you will think back many a time
when you are drifted some here
and some there, and it you will im
