Subscriptions and Arrearages.
1. Subscribers who do not give express no
tlce to the contrary, are considered wishing to
continue their subscription.
2. If subscribers order the discontinuance of
their periodicals, the publishers may contiuue
to send them until all arrearages are paid.
3. If subscribers neglect or refuse to take
their periodicals from the office to which they
are directed, they are held responsible until
they have settled their bills, and ordered them
discontinued.
4. If subscribers move to other places with
out informing the publishers, and the papers
are sent to the former director they are neld
responsible.
5. The Courts have declared that “refusing
to take periodicals from the office, or removing
and leaving them uncalled for. is prima facie
evidence of iutenti > nal fraud.”

and makes use of it, whether he has ordered
it or not, is held in law to be a subscriber

adjoinmg his store house, for the
convenience ot keeping his heavy
groceries in; he is also having the
grocery and clothing rooms in his
store greatly enlarged and much im
proved. He is making arrangements
to have one of the largest and most
extensive stocks of goods tor the tall
and winter trade tha' has ever been
brought to this mark ;t.
Mr. G. H. Harrell, one of our most
enterprising citizens, has greatly im
proved the appearance of his dwell
ing and surroundings by the appfi
cation of the paint -and whitewash

False Report.
A gentleman informed us that he
heard the report up at Stellaville,
that Battle Oak Lodge I. 0. of G. TANARUS,
had busted.’* This is all a mistake,
and we cannot imagine how the re
port got out, for the Lodge is now
in a more flourishing condition than
at any time since it was instituted,
and everything is working harintni-,
ously. The Lodge has recently or
dered anew Banner, which they
hope to have in time for the grund
rally on the X Ith of August.* • 'iTiey
are fixing up for a graud turnout and
display on that day.
Snakebit.
Mr, T. H- Warren, while in bath
ing last Saturday at his father’s mull
near town, w as bit by a water moo
cacin, on the left leg just above the
knee. He immediately bound his
leg very tight with a strong cord
and bound tobacco to the bite and
went to his house, chewing u bacco
and swallowing the amhier all the
time As soon as he could, he had
a chicken killed and one half of it
bound to the place and then drank
about half a pint of whiskey. He
of course was very sick after swal
lowing the amhier and taking the
whiskey, but after this no other dam
age was expetfienced, arid he was
able to,Qome to townjin the evening,
and is now all right again.

male College at Forsyth, on the 9th
inst. A correspondent of the Atlanta
Herald, signing himself “Carroll,”
thus speaks of the composition of
Miss Carswell
“Those compositions, which struck
us as being the best were those which
bore the greatest internal evidence

year 1871, Mr- Fay commenced re

been as follows:
In 1871, the number of acres of
land was increased:! 3 -500—in 1872,
5,900 —in 1873, 6,900. An increase
of $336,219 on the whole amount ot
taxable pioperty. In 1574, the val
ue of taxable property was incr ased
$2*25,000, making an increas" in the
tour yea sos $561,219 (over a half
million dollars).
The people of our section are hap
py to learn through your paper that
Mr Fay, has again announced him
self a can lidate for re election, and
.1 earnestly hope that and officer
so efficient, so kind, and eoutieous
in all his official conduct, and espec
ijally so untiling and energetic in the
faithful discharge of all his official
