LAWS RELATING TO NEWSPAPER
Subscriptions and Arrearages.
1. Subscribers who do not giro express no
tics lo the contrary, are considered wishing to
continue their subscription.
S. If subscribers order Ibe discontinuance of
tbeir periodicals, the publishers may continue
to send them until all arrearages are paid.
3- If subscribers neglect or refuse to take
their periodicals from the office to which they
are directed, they are held responsible until
they have settled their bill*, and ordered them
discontinued.
4. Il subscribers move to other places with
out informing the publishers, and the papers
are sent to the former director they are held
responsible.
5. The Courts have declared that “refusing
to take periodicals from the office, or removing
and leaving them uncalled for, is pruna facie
evidence of intentional fraud.”

and makes use of it, whether be has ordered
it or not, is held in law to be a subscriber
7. It subscribers pay in advance, they are

Negro Disturbances.
On the plantation of Judge Tar*

ried before Justice L. A. Tarver,
and three (all women) weie conduc
ted by Constable Brown to jail on
Tuesday last, to await further or
ders. Strange that they will uot en
joy freedom in a way that is becom
ing a civilized and free people.

There has been but a slight
change in the market sines our last
report. The market was active in
Savannah on Monday last, and clos
ed with a fair demand at the follow
