Sallie Moxhy, an aged c hired
person, died near Pine Hill last week.
She has been tor some time on the
pauper list, and altogether depend

We deeply sympathize with our
esteemed townsman, W. J. Lett ice,
in his here ivement. The sad news
of the d< ath of his mother came to
him the other night—came to him
from across the seas, and long bt foie
the melancholy tidings had reached
him, the cohl grave had received in
its gloomy embrace the deaiesi ob
ject of bis earthly love. She lived
in Edinburg, Scotland, and had been
sick for some time. Though the
mother and son were separated by
cruel disfsfnce, the mystical chain ol
memory and love bound them to
gether indissolubly, ana death itself
may not sever this golden thread.

A Short Digression.

ure has caused. But they mourn
not like those who have no hope.
She lived as lire- a peaceful dove,
Slie died as blossoms<d:e ;
And now her spirit floats above,
A seraph in the sky. jj.
