The Crops.
During the past week we have
conversed with many ol our fame r.
from every section of the county,
and they all give encouraging re
ports about their crops. Com is
improving from the effects ol the
late frost, and in must places is
looking well. Cotton is nearly all
up, and the prospects for a good
crop was never better. We have
not talked with a single farmpr who
has not got a good stand. Oats, noi
withstanding the recent heavy rains,
wind and hail is looking well—how
ever, we have heard of two or three
places where ih> y were dam
aged by the late fiosts. Some of
Our farmers are a little behind with
their crops, but taking everything
into consideration the prospects lor a
good crop is better than it has been
lor years.

We arg requested by Mr. James

need not assure all who attend iha>
they will have a good lime—the
mere fact that it will be at
Clark’s Mill is enough to convince
any one of this. Let all who wish
to spend a gayly day in the woods
remember the day and bo piescut.—

During the p is< ten days the Rev.
E. J. Burch has been conducting a
series of religious meetings m the
Methodist Church in this place, and
much good has been done in reviving
the church and calling sinners to te
peniance. Mr. Burch is an earnest
and zealous worker, and although
he has been carrying on the meet
ing without any assistance, he has
succeeded in getting np such a re
vival in the Church, as Louisville
has not been b'essed wiih in the past
ten yeais. Several have already
professed a hope in Christ, and theie
are sl l many others who are crying
“What shall ldo tube saved?”
The meeting is siiil progressing and
we trust it may continue for many
days yet. That our readers may
not think the Rev. E. J. Ponnal sel
fish in not assisting in these meet
ings, wc will state that he has been
suffering v\ ith a severe lung affection
for the past three weeks, and his
family physic in has forbid him
going out at night or exercising his
lungs any more than is actually
necessary. He would have been a
valuable acquisition to tho-e meet
ings bail his health permitted him
to’nitcnd.
