. Mr. Joseph M. Brown has returned from
a trip to Mexico, where they have f{ree
coinage of silver. From his personal ob
servation, he has come to the conclusion
that practical free coinage is much better
than the theory. He says he found every
thiug prosperons and that a silver dollar
there will buy as much as a gold dollar
here, and that is all that is wanted. He
says that he found that everybody was
pleased with the system and didn’t want
any change. This would indicate that tree
coinage works well or there would be a
clamor for its repeal. h

Killed by Runaways.
All Grocerymen Not Selling
Strictly for Cash ‘Since
+ the Beginning of Cash
Prices on Groceries.
It is Proving a Decided Success
to our Patrons as well as
to Ourselves. ‘
The runaways consists in lost cus
towmers from the fact that they are
not paying lost accounts and not
troubled with misstatements at the
end of each month. When you
\trade with the cash concern your
‘account is ended and prices guaran
"teed the lowest in market. I:s sim
ple to understand why cash demands
the lowest possible price. [t you
have a dollar you want changed
anyone will give you one hundred
cents for it (provided he hasn't been
buying groceries and having them
charged). It so he will say I
havn’t the money, but if you will
give me the dollar I will give yoa
the change in thirty days. Your
reason will teach you that dollar is
worth more to you at that time,
than thirty, sixty or ninety days
and maybe never if his family takes
sick and a funeral expense to pay.
Now, neighbor, haven’t you had
yoar customers tc say they couldn’t
pay because they had to pay a
doctor’s bill and later on they had
to pay other bills more pressing
than yours, and later on you had to
charge that identical account to loss
in your statement of the year’s bs
iness. Well, if it be true who
loses it? You can’t say you never
lose any accounts. You simply
have to charge more for your goods
tc make a dividend at the end of
the year’s business. ’
Now, customer, listen to the tale
of woe. The only merchant that’s
prospering today is the one that
pays cash for his gsods. Cash dis
counts pays all expeunses ot doing‘
business. |
Why not each customer pay cash
and make the same saving. Cask
demands the lowest possible, price.
Try your grocer whom y& have
veen paying credit prices and see it
he wont take you by the arm or
wink at you and say coma here to
one side. ‘I will give you better
prices provided you don’t say any
thing to your neighbor who is pay
ing more for the same article be-s
causc he is having it charged. You
know I cant charge it and sell as
cheap for caeh, (*all ye”” who obe
serve the winking of the other eye,)
and the differcnce in what you pay
these split priced and two priced,
credit priced and cash priced, and
to one side priced concerns,. will
hereafter pay cash as you go or go
slow as you are sure torun off the
track as long as you pay credit
prices for what you eat. What you
eat is never thought of unless you
are dyspeptic or the bill is present
ed you, and if you are not dyspeptic
it will give you dyspepsia if credit
prices are c‘mrged;
