‘What to Do.
There is comfort in the knowledge so
often expressed, that Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-
Root, the great kidney remedy fulfills every
wish in curing rheumatism, pain in the
back, kidneys, liver, bladder and every part
of the urinary passage. It corrects inability
to hold water and scalding pain in passing
it, or bad effects following use of liquor,
wine or beer, and overcomes that unpleasant
necessity of being compelled to go often
during the day, and to get up many times
during the night. The mild and the extra
ordinary effect of Swamp=Root is soon
realized. It stands the highest for its won
derful cures cof the most distressing cases.
If you need a medicine you should have the

Prof. Roxa Tyler, of Chicago., Vice
President Illinois Woman’s Alliance,
in speaking of Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy, says: ‘I suffered with a se
vere cold this winter which threatened
to run into pneamonia. I tried dif
ferent remedies but I seemed to grow
worse and the medicine upset my
stomach. A friend advised me to try
Chamberlin’s Cough Remedy, and I
found it was pleasant to take and it re

recovered, saved a doctor’s bill, time
and suffering, and I will never be with

PHILI?PINES NOT A PARADISE.
A Georgia boy in the Twenty
ninth Infantry, writing to a friend
in Atlanta, gives the following
description of the Philippines:
“The Philippines are a buich of
trouble gathered on the western
horizon of civilization. They are
bounded on the west by heodooism
and smugglers; on the north by
rocks and destruction ; on the east
by typhoons and monsoons; on the
south by ecannibais and earth
quakes. The soil is very fertile,
producing large crops of insurrec
tion and treachery. The inhabi
tants are very industrious, their
chief occupation being trench-dig
ging and making of bolos. Their
‘houses are made principally of
bamboo and landscape. Their
principal amuseéments are cock
tighting and stealing. Their fa
vorite diet is fried rice, boiled
rice, stewed rice and rice. The
beast of burden is the caribon,
and should a hundred-mile jour
ney be undertaken with one of
them, the driver would die of old
age before reaching the end of his
destination. Malarial fever is so
prevalent that on numerous ocea
sions the islands have been shaken
as if with a chill. The Philip
pines are a good present for a
deadly enemy. The natives are
friendly, at the point of a gun,
while the climate is pleasant and
ealubrious for mosquitoes, : ants,
lizards, snakes, roaches, bats, ta
rantulas, scorpions, centerpedes
and alligators. The soil is adapt
ed to raising foul aromas and
breeding disease.”’
THE MOTHER’S FAVORITE.
Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is the
mother’s favorite. It is pleasant and
safe for children to take and always
cures. It is intenrded especially for
coughs, colds, croup, and whooping
cough, and is the best medicine made
for these diseases. There is not the
least danger in giving it to children for
it contains no opium or other injurious
drug and may be given as confidently
to a babe as to an adult.” For sale by
