The Story of a Caxton.
In the Wesleyan Church Record
is a paper by Mr. William Andrews
of the Hull Royal institution on
“Curiosities of Book Collecting,” in
which he tells the story of the un
earthing of a Caxton at Thorneck
hall, Lincolnshire. The butler was
entrusted with the work of weeding
out the superfluous books. A per
fect copy of Dame Juliana Berner's
“Boke of St. Albans” (1486) was
thrown carelessly aside and a little
later sold to a peddler for nine
pence. He thought he was a lucky
man when he disposed of it to »
chemist in Gainsborough for 3 shil
lings. It was soon sold to a book
seller for £2, who transferred it ¢o
another in the same trade for &;.
It was subsequently sold to Sir
Thomas Grenville for £BO. At thie
time of this transaction Dibdin vz -
ued this book at £l2O, and in 1832
a perfect copy changed hands {or
£630.
An Elephant’s Teeth.
Whoever has looked inside an
elephant’s mouth has seen a stranze
si:;:fit. Elephants have no front
teeth, and they never eat flesh or
any food that requires tearing
apart. Kight tecth are all they
have, two above and below on each
side, huge yellow molars as wide as
a man’s hand and about two inches
thick. Over these hay or fodder is
shifted by the queerest, ugliest
tongue in the whole animal king
dom, a tongue that is literally hung
at both ends, having no power or
movement except in the middle,
where it shifts back and forth from
side to side, arching up against the
roof of the big mouth like an im
mense wrinkled pink serpent.

Horn of Salvation was unknown five
yearsago; today it is the popular house
hold remedy in most of the homes of
south; true merit alone could make it
g 0 popular.
The people have had it on trial, and
here are the verdicts rendered. Read
them:
W. R. Buxton, Girard, Ga, writes
that Horn of Salvation sells like wild
fire and relieves pain like magic.
L. C. Durham, Dawson, Ga., says: “I
had rheumatism so bad that my leg was
drawn out of shape. Horn of Salvation
cured me in a short time.”’
R. P. Wheeler & Sorn, Waketown,
Texas, writes: ‘‘Send us six dozen by
express,C. 0. D. We find great de
mand forit.”
Mrs. M. 8. Lebey, 910 Anderson street,
Savannah, Gsa,, says: ‘‘l think it is the
best household remedy I ever used, es
pecially for Indigestion, ¥evers, Croup
and Colds.”
J. P. Stegall, Emerson, Ga., says it

{. Gardner, Marietta, Ga, Dear Sir: We
nd you enclosed certificate of analysis
giving results upon the nmgle of water
sent us some time ago, and eg to advise
you, in this connection, that the analysis
shows the water to be of unusual purity,
both a 3 regards organic and mineral mat

shown by sanitary analyss, is aimost
nothing, and the mineral iugredients
found are also very low, the amount com
paring very favorably with the purity of
distilled water We can recommend this
water very highly for drinking purposes.
