We have noticed two or three sets
of, resolutions purporting to be passed
by companies or regiments in the
army condemning the late message of
Got. Brown and the action of the leg

There is a universal complajut all
over the Country, on accoririt of high
prices for the necessaries of life, and
the difficulty of getting provisions at
any price. He would he a wise man
who could. suggest a remedy for the
trouble, that would relieve the sufler-

newspaper correspondents have ex
hausted the workshop <d the brain,
for material to forge a wedge with
which to split this knotty question.—
One recommends legislation, so strin
gent as to meet the case. Another
proposes the last argument, force, ri. ct

remedy than the one we propose, viz :
Economic: strict economy in the use
of all commodities offered for sale,

families must have their usual allow

fee, flour, butter, eggs, bacon, and
whatever else they find to buy, no
matter what the prices may he. As
long as even a few individuals in a
community will pay tlie exoibitant

it be expected that prices will come

Dear Sir : 1 embrace the earliest mo
ment to apprise you of the most wanton
ourage now being perpetrated ngaiust you
as Governor of our State. I.do this in order
that you may be prepared to give the
necessary retytke.
There was yesterday a meeting held
by this Brigade called by a few men who
wear wreathed stars, who had their reso
lutions already drafted, then offered them
to the men without their meditation or
consideration j the resolutions of course
passed, and it is said, that they passed
unanimously. There were hundreds of
men who did not vote at all,—were afraid
to Speak out in opposition to their General
and other officers. The whole ground of
dissatisfaction is derived from your late
message together with a few other acts of
yours. I just want you to know that these
resolutions do not meet the approbation ot
the Georgians who compose this Brigade,
hut we have no way to act iu the premises
in a public point of view.
The writer mf this has always been in
opposition to your self relative to politics,
hut now plainly sees the felicity with
which you elucidate your ideas, in regard
to peace after every Confederate victory—
the same as in 7G.
Hoping that these resolutions may uot
iu the least injure you as a public character,
I remain, Y our obedient serv’t.

We never intimated that any one said lie ;

mythiug in favor of a dictatorship. What j message of Gov. Brown meets the endorse
ment of the country. Mr. Linton Ste
phens’ resolutions were carried it is true,
by a very meagre majority in the Geor
gia Legislature, but this vote is not really
a fair indication oftlic actual sentiment of
that Legislatuie, as it is well known that
many of those members who voted against
Mr. Stephens’ resolutions did so from a
laudable disinclination to present even
tlie semblance of a conflict between tlie au
thorities of Georgia and those of the Gen
eral Government-
The fact is however, the crfnntry, the
people are with Gov Brown in sentiment,
and their voice -will be relleeted in the
next Oougress. There can be no mistak
ing the sentiment of our people on this
subject. We hear it on steamboats, in
the cars, in hotels, in private and public
circles. Many are laboring under the pa
triotic impressipn that the least said about
the matter the better it will he for us aud
our cause. This may he true; and We are-
far from denouncing persons who thus think
nevertheless, the sentiment exists—Gov.
Brown is right—the people say it—and
the next Congress will say it. Meantime
we think there is little ground to fear that

seen that the report was, that whilst in
Richmond, he advocated, what, in cfi’ect,
would be a dictatorship, and we will see
whether ho denies this. On tlie subjects
of bribery and corruption, and the prosti
