pUo.VPTED by n desire to benefit our eoun-
| try, and also to establish an important
t ill in science, we have concluded to offer to
the pblie the above named remedies for the
run and prevention of Hog ( liolcra. Medical
gentlemen of skill and experience began a se-
lies of examinations when the cholera first
began in this country; after having performed
numerous post mortem examinations upon the
bodies of hogs which had died ot cholera,
kiitl after great research and investigation to
determine the nature of the disease, led by
the lights arising therefrom, they undertook
die cure of the complaint by various remedies.
Tuev found several articles beneli 'ial, but
success was not fully attained to until the
above named medicine was compounded. T lie
medicine was not sought out for the purpose
of sale, but the great, success attending its
use has induced them to form a company and
oi tHin a Patent. V o oiler it as being, under
t c accompanying directions. Lilly capable ot
arresting nnv epidemic of hog cholera, and
prompt in giving relief when properly admin-
i-tried. \Ye confidently believe that the rein
ed is a -peiitic: vet v e do not recommend it
s.s infallible in all cases, though wc have never
known it to fail, either ns a cure or preventive
against the further spread of the disease when
used agreeably to the directions, notwith
standing those free from the disease have been
ki pt in close proximity with those diseased.
It is a great doni 0 , and will successfully
remove Mange, Sore Head and Vermin, either
of which will affect the health of the hog, and
► top his growth and development, Nothing
will make hogs so thrifty as this remedy. W e
offer no patent remedy for the cure of man,
but tve think that the jaihiic will esteem us as
benefactors when they consider that wc have,
for years, been investigating t! c diseases of
domestic animals, which form not only a part
of the wealth ot the country, but afford sus- j
tenance to man. Allow us to add that hog '
cholera is but a mild disease when taken in j
its early stages with this remedy, which will i
also remove worms from the bowels, and it ;
administered once a month by the directions,
will forever prevent any injuries from the Tri- \

symptoms in persons who eat triehinous pork. ■. oosiues many

What a White Boy Can Do.
The Marianna Florida Courier says: “Little
ton Chambliss, aged, sixteen years, son of Jas.
H. Chambliss of this county, cultivated fifteen
acres of corn and five acres in cotton; has
housed two hundred anil seventy-two bushels of j
corn, and picked for the gin two and a half
bales of cotton.
crop was made by _
cotton at 26 cents, rather below than above the i , ;se p ‘SS to
to hold the negro in our midst as an element standing,

that the peopling of the South with white la-

j respects as slaves.
| The reason of the failure of the first efforts
! to introduce white laborers is thus explained:
“ These planters sought to obtain in New
{ York what they should have looked for in the |
rural districts of Germany. The money they j
have sunk here would have inaugurated the j
! movement abroad. New York city was. and ;
i probably still is. swarming with thousands of
discharged soldiers, of all nationalities, who
found it exceedingly difficult to obtain work in
that citv, or whose inclinations did not tend
toward Industry at all. From these men agents
readily secured' as many as they needed to send ; snn
down South ; but it must be obvious, few were
agricultural laborers or husbandmen, but tor
the most part simply vagabonds, who, glad of
a change, went anywhere. Honest and indus
trious farmers need not loiter about New York
citv, thev can find enough of occupation, at
fail* wages and good treatment in tbe YVestciu
States. ° Worthless fellows, whom nobody wish
es to have at the North, were thought good
enough for the South. Ruinous resmts »ue
unavoidable when labor rests upon such a •
of bad material.”
Objection to our climate is thus answered:
“ It has been said at the North, and 1 l.ave
’ j heard Southern men join in that opinion, that
a white man cannot labor in our climate.
God had really cursed this country to such a
