Fi ne Corn ami Potatoes.—One day this week
Mr. R. C. Head, a citizen of this county, brought
to our ollice and presented to us the finest lot
of potatoes we have seen this season. In fact,
wo never saw the same number of as large
ones. Among them were some large red yams.
They would average four to four and ft half
pounds, in weight. The sample of corn given
us by Mr. Head was a*s good as man could wish
to produce.
Mr Head i? a thrifty fanner, and never does j
anything by piece-meals. Our thanks are ten !
dered him for the remembrance of us.
A Monster Fotatoe.—Mr. John Haynes, of
I Coweta, gave us on Tuesday, one potatoe, j

Disokuerly.—On Tuesday night, five men |
or youths, on their return from the election, |
in passing the house of Wm
the corporate limits of the town,* pulled oft
some ef his palings, talked improperly to his
family and acted otherwise so disorderly that
Mr. Moore shot at them twice, however with
out hitting either of them, we suppose. The
above was gathered from Mr. Moo r c, and, il
true, deserves the frowns of all peaceable citi
zens. If youngsters will wantonly disturb and
insult peaceable people, and in so doing lose
their lives, their friends will have the mortifi
cation of knowing the guilt rests with the dis
orderly. As no harm has resulted in this case,
it would be well for the thoughtless to reflect,
for fear a worse state of afiairs may follow a
iepetition of such conduct.
The Largest Stock of White Shirts,
j red up courage enough to come to blows, and
j the “ way the feathers flew was a caution.—
While thus engaged in pommeling each other,
; a vehicle ran over them killing them both in-
i stantly. A sail warning, truly, to those who
| allow their angry passions to rise so high as to
result in personal combat.
The above from the Chronicle, and Sentinel
is pretty good. “That reminds us’* of a ease
Moore just out of cannibalism that occurred in this county a
few day? since. A family of several colored
person*, after having baked one John A. Cake,
a -tuaiiy eat the whole body. When last heard
from tile family were doing well, and are like
ly to rvjk'at the deed, unless there should be
military interference.—Rome Courier.
Very good ; but wc have seen a stranger sight
than either. In the streets of Newnau, yes
terday. we saw a Cow eat a (Cow-e-ta) calf !
plantation of Robert S. Anderson, in Pulaski
county. It is of a dark cream color, resem- i Mens’ and Boys Boots and Shoes,
l-ling a light shade of nankeen; while in !
length and fineness of staple it is about equal |
to Middle Florida sea islands. Mr. Anderson j
is experimenting with it this year, but expects j
to plant from twenty-five to thirty acres the !
coming season. It grows to a great perfection \
on our uplands and is a good bearer. We are !
informed that the article will probably com-1
mand fifty ceutsiu the market at this time, a |
price which should induce others to embark in j
its cultivation.
