Shake Hands. A correspondent wants to know if it : is etiquette to shake hands with a lady on first introduction. It- is the custom in some countries. In the South it is hot considered polite. In the North it is the custom with old people, or mar ried parsons. In England it is the invariable custom", unless the lady ob jects. In Germany, the lady who meets a gentleman on the streets cannot by custom speak to> a gentleman -. till he speaks to iier.
