THE GIN BRUSH
A correspondent of the -New York
World, after the manner of modern
reporters, thus writes of the cow tin
President has with him at Long
Branch:
The President’s cow, which, hi
brought from Washington, i3 an ob
ject of a good de::l of interest. I hav:
had the honor of seeing her, but h-ave
not had an opportunity of interviewing
her. However, 1 chance to be in pos
sesion, of soma facte, eoii'erning her
opinions on matters m general. She
us a small, sleek animal, and is bloodeu,
of course. Her color is significantly
black, but she has a white line over her
back, and her maternal bosom also
does honor to the Caucasian race.—
On her arrival at Long Branch all th-c
cows about here paid, her the greatest
respect. Even now, as she passes
along the road to and from her pasture
every night alid morning, all the cow
in the adjoining fields regard her with
envious respect. The multitude of lo
cal dogs which would soon worry to
death any other unprotected kine com
ing from abroad skulk away from this
cow queen and dare not so much as ut
ter a. growl. None bat the daintiest of
fiies are permitted to ride on hei neck.
Mrs. Cow is about five years old, and
has been married' three times. None
of her offspring accompany her on this
trip. She is fond of the Jersey red
clover, but dislikes the noise of the
ocean. She is no bather. Having
been reared in a rural district she has
never learnt to swim. Mr. Grants
cow would like to see him re-elected,
which is very natural. She admires
her owner’s pluck, and his silence
