House* Wanted-
For the first time in several years
there are no dwelling houses to rent in
Perry. Several persons are wanting
dwellings. We think it would pay well
any person who would erect eight or
ten houses that could be rented at
from ten to twenty dollars a montl.
Such buildings could be put ap at a
cost of from six to twelve hundred
dollars at the present prices of lum
ber and would be a permanent, safe
and paying investment.
The scarcity Of honses speaks wel
for the prosperity of onr town. Now
if one or two good mnnufietoring in

•As the time approaches to pot for
ward a ticket for county officers, I
would suggest that it is the duty of
voters to bestow these offices upon
the most needy and deserving. We
have in our county a number of disa
bled soldiers, who are competent and
worthy,—!men who lost limbs in de
fence of what they and wo considered
to be onr right. Some of us recollect
but a few years back, when onr boys
were marching for the battle field,—
the promises and pledges made them
by the property holders,—of those
who stayed behind. They told us to
go on boys, we wifi take care of your
w ives and eliiluren. If yon fall on the
battlefield and loose a limb so os to
disable you for labor we wifi provide
for you etc.
Since the close of the war it has
been thought impractable under the
pecnlar political conditiou to put for
ward old soldiers for offices of hono"
or profit. I always believed it a mis
taken policy, for even a freed negro
has more confidence and respect fov a
brave man who did hie duty,—than
they have for some who were loud in
their assertions of bravery, but who
when the war was inaugurated stayed
at a safe distance from danger. I pro
pose the name of Daniel Fulwood, of
Fort Valley, for Tax Collector, Mr.
Fulwood is a one legged soldier,—a
poor man and is entirely competent
to fill the office.—-an honest man and
can make the necessavy bond. The
nomination of Mr. Fulwood would
meet the hearty approval of every true
soldier in the connty.
