FERTILIZERS.
F. W. SiHS & CO,

rmoa msH aiits,
S.i VANNAII, GEORGIA,
OFFER THE FOLLOWING FERTILIZERS:
u WANDO.”
An entirely new and pure Fertilizer, rndd? front remarkable deposits discovered in the State
of Suiilli Carolina, which have been pronounced by eminent Chemists to be the no. t valuable of
any similar deposit in the world. It is manipulated in Charleston by the IVanilo Mining and Mun
ufaet ’.ring Company, out of material taken from the e beds of deposit near that city, and ia the
'.i'il article lnannfaeturod front Southern material at the South, ever offered to the public, and we
eoiitktently reeoumtend it to the plaiiting hit-te-l of our State.
A distinguished Chemist in Ualtiinin'e lnm pronounced its fertilizing qualities equal to any nr
licie in use at the manufactories at the North.
We append a few of the many certificates given by planters in South Carolina, who are men
of undoubted respectability.
Extracts from Letters.
1 tbink your Fertilizer will pay. i applied ii on light ?oil, DM) lbn. per aorc, and manured
with stable manure near it, and it was equally as good. 1 applied it in clay loam, 160 lbs. to the
acre, and it was supt i ior to the stable manure VVN\L J. McFADDIN, Kingstree.
The Wnnilo Fertilizer I used this \ oar proved quite a success. 1 applied 150 lbs. per acre on
Colton, which increased the yield a little more Ciun one-third. The quantity applied was not suf
licient, as J experimented on a s ale with large quantities j>er acre, which paid a much greater per
■ '‘lit. W. W. CuLLLIt, Orangeburg.
1 tried it on a very poor piece of land, widt h h; 1 laid out last year, coarse, gravelly, williclay
-•'b. ■••»il : deep furrows wore run about four feet apart, and beds thrown up; in this condition it
av until ready for applying the manure, which was done by running a deep furrow in tie- water
furrow with a shovel plough, and Applying the manure from a machine at the rate of 200 lbs. per
,mo : the* bed was then thrown buck on lie* manure ami cotton planted in the usual way. Had 1
not left a few rows without manure, 1 could not have believed that the difference would have been
so great. That with no manure will not pav for the seed and labor, whilst the other will make a
p.od crop. lea Lt say bow much, as 1 have not kept an aceomvt of the weight j but will say this
much, that J regard it equal, if not superb r, to any other manure for cotton.
YV. S. KAUB, YYlnnsboro.
I nr-iut your IVundo Fertilizer the prevent, year on my place, and have made Better crops, 1
think than I'.u many years past. I.aat y< cr and the year before 1 used Guano, blit I Anil bv c.vpe
' rience in planting that your Fertilizer is more adapted to our soil than any I have used. 1 have
li ft and it also on garden r eg, table.- ;e and the result was a perfect suceess.
R. VI. LITTLE, liennettsvilie.
lam pleased with the result of what 1 used this a ear. On short cotton i used 2001 b?. to the
acre, applying ii in the alley and bedding upon il. I put none after that; it grew to t lie heighth
of three feet, whilst that which was not manured average 1 only ten inches. I also applied it to
■ •orn. a teaspoon Ini to the led. when it wa - about thri • feet high ; the vie! I was rood. I tried it
oa garden vegetables and found it successful. B A. lIAfTiLDEX, Marion.
I unhesitatingly pronounce your Vi'ando Ferliiiior superior to any other Fertilizer i have ever
ti ed except I'cruviau Guano, aid consider i not iid'-I'io; to liiv. I applied ]Ho lbs, to tlie acre,
in the furrow, cwi ring wi:!i ?ei aper, and fl u thr, wup beds with ''/lines' No. J«” bedding j',l"'!-!:.
I bones’ly believe that up :n our putt: Icon applied as I dal. double the production may be sufclv
relied upon. 1 am sure the immnimred pan; id my crop was soarnoly halt as good as thy other, ’f
u <ctl a lilt e upon coni and rice with the , • h :pjiy rcsuhs,
P. G. HENIiOIV, Wright's Bluff.
Tom' Via min Fertilizer has done well for ran. I tried it on both corn and cotton, and believe
!hat it has paid me. I used some Peruvian Guano, and can see no difference.
JAMI'.-t It. DAY Id, Manning.
1 1 :-cl t!,» ’.Viiii-lo (,n my cotton crop Hih year in th • list, 130 Bis. to the acre. 1 left rows hi
different p uls of the crop munanuml, and in every iii.itnuco they wore inferior to those manured,
i consider V nub, a : duabb- iilaaure for cotton ; applied it to no other I'rogi.
W. S. PALMER, St. Stephen's.
1 i yrcl thu.f my experiment will, the Wando Fertilizer have'not b -on ?) cimdnc'ed as to en
able me to answer your inquiries in detail. They have not been a fair test of its value, yet the re
- ill lias lit en satisfactory enough to encourage me tocoii'iuue its use. Ii was used in field crops,
garden vegetables and flowers, cultivated in pots at various stages of their growth, and each ap
plication was followed by marked improvement. SANFORD W. BAKER, ,\l. I)., Oakley.
I have used your Wando Fertilizer on ray cotton crop the past season, and it gives me pleasure
to s'u'c that it lim, Billy come up to my highest exportations, it is, in iffy opinion, quite equal to
stable manure for Cotton. B. F. BEQUEST.
Heretofore 1 lia'-e used chiefly the Pacific Soluble and Stapes' Phosphate ; but hereafter I intend
Si use the Wando Fertilizer. 1 ir.n. because it encourages Ice. to enterpri.-e ; and. secondly, be
cause it is tn every respect equal to, it not superior to the other manures mentioned.
X. LEITNER, Camden.
Yorkvili u. S. C., January 27;h, l.'-:G9.
I had a great many planters to examine iny crop lust summer, and they w ere all very much
ideas, and with it. 1 cun recommend it to any plant-r, and think it the best fertilizer Hint 1 have
ever used. li. F. RAIVLINSON.
PoMAura, S. Jammry 21, 18fdt.
lam much pleased with tho Wando in my turnip expeiim-tit. I tried it • idc hy side with
vour special turnip fertilizer sent mo and marked thns (Diamond) Soluble Pacific end Peruvian
Guano, a quarter -if an acre each, and gentlemen wlio have seen the crop, pronounce tie Wando to
iiave given the bod results. T. S. BOINKST.
ill l oun's lintDOK, S. C . January 1 ], Ikoi).
I applied from two hundred tof-jnr hundred pounds per acre under cotton in the drill, and in
tolerable fair 1 tml four hundred pounds per a redoubt -d tlie yield. On land very much exhaust
ed two liui I red pounds mule I hree-fold, ami to ir h'n In-d pounds made five-fold I tried il side
by side wi b able manure and four bitndr tl pound* is equal to a heavy manuring of the best
. able litter. For tomatoes and turnips I have never vea anything superior.
