It is understood that Savannah yields tlio n ini
uae to your end of tho District, nevertheless, we
wish It distinctly remembered, that the Demee
racy of Ihbiclty hat a choice. Many "four eiu
sens have vast interests at slake, which, at lie
proper time, will be brought to the attention of
the authorities it Washington, and conseqnenl
ly it is desirable that we should have a Rej.i-i
--scntatlve, whose past business career will ho a
giiarantoa of energy, tact and wisdom. In plain
English, Savannah will go before Ite Black-hour
Convention, and dejnand the nomination of Col.
R.C Waok, ofynnr County, for the unexplred
term of the Forty-first Congress. Ills business
Career In onr city, demonstrates to the citizens
thereof, that'lio Is the man for the position. ’I his

We would also state, that Col. Wauk has been
relieved of bis diuabtlilies, and can take his seat
If elected. Very respectfully,

Tlie European News.

Monday’s dispatches announce the halt of Hu-
Prussian army wilh n a few miles ol I’arD, I"

On Sunday last London was convulsed with
excitement in reference to two monster meet

witnessed In London for a generation, and it
shows that a general swell exist among the
English people.
Col. Wade for Senator.
We direct attention to tlm letter over
the signature ot “Vox Forui.i,” insisting
on the nomination of our fellow eiti/.en,
Col. E. C. Wack, as the Democratic can

nuggCßtion is a good one, and we hope it
will he calmly and carefully consith red

Wads has every qualification for Senator
and is immensely popular with all class

to say, that wo believe be is the only

the campaign.
mil Price not a Candidate.
We learn fiom quite an intelligent
colored man, that Biu. Price is not in
clined to be a candidate for the Legisla

tion a few weeks ago, but he lias since
discovered that many of ids own race
will not support him, ami consequently
draws ofi\ In conversation with a col
ored man on last Saturday, he laughed
heartily at the ridiculous figure Bill
Price would cut iu the Capitol at Atlan
ta, and remarked that although the ne
groes were "green,” they were not such
fools as to vote for such a jackass as
Price, to make laws for the government
of a State. Bill had better stick to the
pulpit and jack-plane. lie is a tolera

will secure him work.
The Vote of Brooks County.
It is generally believed that the color
ed vote of this county exceeds the white
vote. This was the case two years ago,
but not now. The following is a cor

each district, as appears by the Tax
Digest for the present year:
Whites. Blacks.

They agreed to plead guilty, provided
the jury would consent to recommend

that influenced them in this course was
